ok so i have been looking into the costs of factory pressing old og vibe volumes to sell later this year, and i have a bit of a snag. i wanted a silver bottom, pressed cd just like you'd get in the store, but this runs a LOT more than the traditional mixtape type shit with black text on top of a cd-r (like "the way he wanted it" for example). my dilemma is that if i press them, the minimum is 500 units per album, and frankly i don't see 500 people or even 200 people on streethop ordering them at $10 per album, which is what i'd require to break even. the alternative is that i can have them put onto cd-r with full color silkscreen artwork on the top, so it looks like a retail cd until you flip it over, at which time it's a silver bottom cd-r. these types of cd's will cost less than $3 each to make so i can keep the price low and still deliver a full quality retail looking product without much stress. if a factory pressed cd is what you want, then we'll have to trim it down to a single disc instead of all volumes. the plan is that NO tags will be on any songs, and all songs before ogv5 will be re-done to achieve optimal quality...

you can select more than one option.

well dante if the best you can do without putting yourself out of pocket then thats what you have to do I mean comon who cares what that the bottom isn't propper as long as the artwork on the top is cool I for one don't care its the content on the cd that I'm interested in!

Duplication is the process through which you "burn" the original content file from the master to a recordable CD or DVD. It is a faster method of production than replication, but is generally utilized for orders up to 1000 CDs, or when time is of the essence.

Replication is a manufacturing process that creates CD's or DVD's through injection molding. From the original master, a "glass master" is created. From that, a "stamper" is made that fits into the mold, and transfers the information from the original master to the disc that has just been molded. This process becomes cost efficient in quantities of 1000 or more. Replication has a longer lead-time than duplication, requiring 7 to 10 days for production after the master has been received, and the proof for the screen imprint has been approved.

...if people buy the set (at a discounted price) i am thinking i'll also include one unleaked song as a thank you.

I'm in, no matter what, but option 2 is the best.

I'll probably buy the set anyway, but if the unleaked song is a Death Row era one (preferrably one of the songs that you've mentioned before, such as one with Big Daddy Kane or something from the rumored 2Pac and Daz project), then I'm definitely in.

id say option 2, theres no point risking losing money on the top quality silver cds, if the quality diffence is only goin to be small
there's no audible difference. it's purely in the packaging alone.
