I was using the fitbit for a while. But found it's easier just to use my phone when I go for a run.

If your phone is too bulky to carry. Then I understand the need for something a bit lighter.

I think this shit is for people that have way too much time on their hands and want to waste time analyzing themselves over trivial shit.

Wanna know how you sleep? Get a professional sleep study. Wanna know how you eat? Fucking read the nutrition facts. Even a fat fuck like me knows that.

I do crossfit twice a week where the workouts are really intense and I also do a lot of walking. So I'm really interested in how many calories my workouts burn and how many steps I climb and things like that. I'm also interested in that Nike Fuel algorithm that measures how hard you worked out. I feel like that would be extra motivation. I'm not interested particularly in how much I sleep although it'd be cool to know. The best thing is that you can have it on your wrist at all times and not worry about it.

No, I agree. That's so cool. And really, anyone who says they aren't interested in the details of their workout is either an airhead or lying.

Does a machine like that really give you that accurate of a measure on calories burned? I don't see how it can be any better than the ones on a treadmill or elliptical at the gym, which aren't that accurate.

Calories burned are based on height, weight, gender, and movement which is calculated by the internal accelerometer. Source: NikePlus twitter page

But their are other variables, like the health of the person and pre-existing conditions. It may not be much when calculating an hour's worth of exercise, but it can definitely add up over an 18-hour day, which many of us have. It can be off by several hundred calories.

We'll see what happens with these. I always thought they were a bit silly, but I have known athletes to use and promote silly things. Promoting through Nike is basically like promoting through an athlete without actually having an athlete to promote it. An athlete will use it, spew some BS on how it works, and everyone will follow along.

It's like those energy bracelet thingies that D-Rose started. He fucked his knee up, so you know that shit don't work.

I hear you. But still, some idea is better than no idea, yes?

Sure, sure.

I can just see this becoming more of a fashion thing or an accessory to give people the impression that one is an active person and trendy. Not all, but some will do this. And they'll be huge douche-nozzles while doing it.

Not you, of course. Get both and see how you like them. If it changes your life, I'll buy one too.

It just sucks it's iOS-only for the moment. I might try and get someone to buy it for me for Christmas and then just wait until the Android app comes out to use it on my NEXUS 4.

Kinda regret getting the S3. While it has been great the almost-three months I've had it, I would have loved being contract free with a GSM phone and taken it to the island when I returned back there for school and enjoyed it there.

Not to mention I got it for $199, like an idiot (or maybe $149, can't remember) and the N4 was only $149 more. Basically five months on my plan and it would've paid for for a n4 with no contract.

Son of a dick. Technology fist-fucks me again.
