My little sister, Tupac, Pumpkins, and discrimination... I need your help..

Alright I figured thier would be no better place then here to turn when I needed some help organizing and collecting information on Pac.

Heres the story... my little sister is in 5th grade and she had to do a report on someone in history, and then they have to paint or do something to make a pumpkin look like thier person, so I asked her to do Tupac jokingly, she actually agreed to it.

So I helped her a lot with the report, and she made a fucking fabulous pumpkin of Tupac.

Unfortunately, she got to school and "her pumpkin cant be displayed with the rest of the pumpkins" because "he was a thug."

Right, so regardless to say, im fucking irate.

So tomarrow in the morning I plan on goign to my sisters school because thier having a breakfast thing and talking to this teacher about the situation.

What I need is a list of events in Tupacs life where I could highlight ANY positive thing he has done. Community events, charities, etc, etc.

And any help you guys could give me would be appreciated. I have to have this info. by tomarrow morning so if you could help out I would love it.

What pisses me off even more, is the fact that some students did Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, both notorious for thier drug usage, and Monroe was quite the slut (haha isnt ironic, thier both white), yet thier acceptable? Fuck that bullshit.

Anyway, any help would be appreciate. Thanks guys.

I take sociology in college, and I can tell you that I've learned nothing in the course. Why? Because I learned it all from 2Pac. Everything my professor had to say was said by Pac in his songs.

Explain to the teacher that he was a very important figure that not only attended events for charities, but went out of the way to take people in. His thug image was a way to show people living in poverty that they weren't alone.

He wanted people with hopelessness in their hearts to know that they were not the only ones feeling hopeless. Of course he got himself into trouble with the law, but most of the time the law was AFTER HIM!

Also, let the teacher know that he made a difference. He was a huge influence in music and he impacted the lives of millions. If the teacher asks why he cursed in his songs, then simply tell her the truth. He had intelligent lyrics with profanity in order to educate the youth on reality. The only way they would listen is if he did in fact talk and act like them. They don't teach you reality in school.

He was a very smart man, and his intelligence and dedication to music should not be ignored because some teacher thinks a pumpkin dedicated to him shouldn't go up with the rest.

i somewhat agree with her teacher that a 5th grader should study more traditional historic figures.

that being said, people always talk about how pac taught them so much, but i'd actually like to know WHAT 2pac taught you. no offense, but comments like...

I take sociology in college, and I can tell you that I've learned nothing in the course. Why? Because I learned it all from 2Pac

...are kind of disgusting. 2pac's message was not science, a solution, and was based on his interpretation of problems that needed to be addressed. seriously saying pac was a teacher is a gross misinterpretation of his themes.

who would you rather defend you in court or perform surgery on your heart - a person who kept it real listening to blasphemy and hold ya head, or someone who studied the history and traditional lessons of their respective disciplines? hey, i love pac's music, but putting the blinders on the traditions of education because you're keeping it real is, well, keeping it real dumb.

^lol... what?

EDIT: wow that was a really long double post interval... 20 minutes... fuckin busy ass server... but i'm just saying... 2pac was a thug but some of these songs will portray his true message just watered down so that suburbia can feel the impact too...

haha first, I will post a picture of the pumpkin if she gets it back after the project, i should have taken a picture of it! god damn it.

but anyway, thank you for those who responded, but now I ask, what COMMUNITY things HAS he done?

I know he helped organize that gang truce picnic shit, it was briefly mentioned in the documentary, anyone have any more info?

Code of Thug Life, i know all about that.

btw, to the first poster, I will use some of your arguements, very well articulated.

im going to copy that letter that the mom of the dying child wrote to the judge about Tupac coming to visit her cancer stricken son, and the note the little brother (or was it a sister) wrote to him, that was fucking awesome.

Anyone know about that community charity thing he did in the movie where he says "we can get snoop, whoever up in here as long as thiers no violence, and the moeny goes to someone in your community", etc.

And Dante, I don't believe he is a substitute for education, but I DO agree that he is an opener to various facets of education.

I would not know much about the Black Panthers without him (he opened me up to them, I continued my own personal research), things of that nature he opened me up to. I am more conscious because of Tupac. But I would rather have her do Tupac then Christopher Columbus, who was a racist bastard who brought death and slavery to native America, yet we glorify him to our schoolchildren. Shit liekt hat is fucked up, so keep your "more traditional" historic figures, but I'd rather have my students learn from someone who cared about the people, not someone who just makes white people look good.

aynway, community events, what else was Pac involved in?

Could you post those notes? I've never read them before. Also, I know that there was something in Thug Angel about Tupac stopping in to visit a young girl (a complete stranger) who had been attacked by a pit bull.

...wow... so i just viewed your gallery and you're a white guy. dude, you have some serious issues of self hate.

pssst... just cause you bump 2pac doesn't mean the panthers would welcome you with open arms. i'd encourage you to examine the identity you have constructed for yourself and how you fit into your distorted view of history.
