Musical question that doesnt belong in the music section

I'm guessing most of the older members came here when this was still a 2Pac forum. 2Pac fans, hiphop-fans.

Most of us were/are also of the same age group. Late teens, early twenties.

I'm wondering if now, 5 years later, did your musical taste get any broader? Do you now like stuff that you would've brushed aside 5 years ago?

I've always been open minded and into lots of different types of music, but I'm into more types of music than I was 5 years ago simply because I've had the time to explore lots of artists catalogues.

I never brushed aside music because I felt that I shouldn't listen to it. I was never closed-minded in that sense. I'm closed-minded in the sense that I don't actively search out non-rap music but I'm open to different genres. For example, I heard that Roy Orbison song shahadararoba on the Mad Men finale and thought it was the dopest shit.

I barely listen to any rap anymore. Joe Budden is the only new rapper to come out in five years (I think) that I like. Still listen to all the old artists though. Now it's mostly indie music for me these days. Sufjan Stevens, Iron and Wine, My Morning Jacket, MGMT, etc. I've also been into a lot of dance/electronic music lately like Ratatat, Pretty Lights, The Album Leaf, The Knife, etc. I listen to pretty much everything now though.

Barely listen to rap anymore. Unless it's the older stuff.

I've always listened to everything with an open mind also. I'm more into Trance, house, etc ... but I've been listening to a lot of classic rock as of late. Asia, Kansas, Zeppelin, etc.

When I was 14 it was only hip-hop limited to a bunch of west coast artists and some other single tracks lol
Now it's about 40% hip-hop and 60% totally various other genres.
In no way I'm as good in knowing other genres like I do with hip-hop but I research a lot to find things I like.

i listen to some selected music that's about it. all the same old fav cd's of mine seem to get broke/scratched and replaced time again
