lol thats ironic of you say that just cause you have freedom of speech such and such...

First off all don't get cute and you know what I mean. America isn't the only place where you have freedom of speech and America didn't invented such thing. It just so happens this is where freedom of speech is utilized the best. Freedom of speech is universal and every country in the world should have. Its like when people say having a lot of money, houses and cars is 'American dream'. No its not. There are a lot of places where people live just as fine and own just as much houses and cars but they don't live in any type of 'dream'. They live in normal life that people should live. It just so happens Americans live this normal live but it shouldn't be labeled as 'American dream'. Thats a myth.

So, don't tryna sound funny when you say just because I live in American and have freedom of speech I shouldn't say this and that. Because I should have freedom of speech regardless of where I live and I should have the right to say whatever I want.

Why don't I have nothing to offer? What is it that I should offer or what is it that I'm not offering when I'm protesting gas prices.
I wonder if I didn't mention the freedom of speech part, what your reply would have looked like.

You have nothing to offer because you're not in a position to change anything. You only have control over your life and your own consumption level. But, for you apparently, that's not enough. You don't like the idea of being a puppet. You know how depressing it would be to really look into how much control governments and MNCs have over our lives?

But okay, go and protest gas prices. LOL That is so funny to me. Protesting gas prices. Go for it.

Ok I'll take any day of the week being looked as a funny dude for protesting gas prices (especially from you because I'm really concerned how you view me  ) over some puppet who does everything the gov't tells him to.

You're so baked into the idea of gov't has the total control of people and therefore people aren't in a position to change anything. And with this you're thinking you're coming up on top the smart one and me being still the ignorant one not aware of how things work.

Lets all bow our heads down to the state and do what they tell us.

No breathing in this area...Yes sir!

See, your problem on this board is that every discussion that you participate in, you look at it as a win/loss discussion that has to provide for a winner. There's no "win" here and it's not a competition on who is smarter, it's just a discussion. You're more concerned with making sure you don't come out as the less smarter one or as a loser, as if there is such a thing in most discussions, than actually debating and possibly coming to a consensus. Every post on this board that you read, you approach with the belief that people are trying to sound and appear smart. While that might be the case, some people just like to convey and trade views.

I'm just conveying my view of things and how I see it. I'm not a big pessimist and I'm all for change, but I'm also realistic. I didn't say that people aren't in a position to change anything, I said YOU aren't in a position to change anything. Now, if you feel that you are in that position, then you can tell me how you are in that position. Your idea of protesting gas prices, to me, seems to be complaining about them on a message board. Am I wrong?

You gotta be kidding me. This is in some country in West Africa. I thought $4 per gallon in U.S. was expensive.

Wow this is insane. Some other notable places...$8.73 in Norway and $8.38 in UK.

This makes me wanna stroll instead of driving.

This is some most fucked up period of time we live in.
Is that per liter though? Or per gallon? If thats per liter, that's insane!!

I think arguing over who has the right to complain about any matter is pointless.

The bottom line is, there is little to none that you can do to change the price of gas. What you can do though is make a change in your lifestyle. If you can't change how much you drive and you can't carpool or take public transit, well then, reduce your other consumption levels. Don't buy the next CD that comes out or the next game or the next DVD. Don't get too drunk and spend $200 at the bar in one night. Little things.
Exactly. Yet I say it and they post fucking paragraphs of shit I don't wanna read. "Oh that's like.." ..shut up.

Maybe, they are thinking the same way you do and thats the problem?
Look, that thing you quoted of mine I only wrote so people would stfu. Protesting the gas prices is ridiculous. Just read what Sofi said and stfu. That whole "puppet" thing is getting old. I don't just do what anybody tells me to do. We're talking about fucking gas here. Like Sofi said, i'm just being realistic.

you are wrong.

in norway, the gas prices are high due to two things. one is the actual price for a gallon from the person who sits on the shit, the other is the taxation our government puts on top of it. i can't bitch about gas prices to the point where opec starts selling it cheaper, but i can bitch at my own government for scraping too much off the top, and if i band some friends from my local community we're suddenly a few voices instead of one. if my entire town suddenly becomes aware, more towns in the county will hear of it and, if i'm lucky, join the bandwagon. in that sense, yes, you can make a change.

i guess it's about learning which fights to pick and which fights to pass. i'll bitch about gas prices to a certain point, but i won't let it become a negative aspect of my life.
