Modernize the applicant society

Ppl need to be able to make a simple audio/visual DVD recording to one national standard for any body that deals with ppl having to come and fill out an application and/or do an interview. Ppl can always update their DVD when they need to. You should be able to have produced as many copies you need/want of the original so that you can send them out as you need or want to any place requiring an ap to be filled out and/or an interview to be done.

Visual/audio resume is what I call it. Who should be required by law to accept these should be all:

1. Employers
2. Appartments

Can you imagine how better it would be if we knock the old style of in-person interviews? Can you imagine only having to dress up good once for one interview that can be sent to however many employers as you please? Can you imagine not having to get an appointment for an interview at a time you prolly couldnt make on time anyway? Hell, can you imagine not having to come and fill out all those applications when job hunting?!

To make it better for ppl, the employers who wont hire you should be required to send back the DVD to a return address with a letter about why exaclty they aren't considering hiring you at the moment.

What do you think about all this?

Man, all your suggestions concern things that at one point in social history were up for debate in public. The public then decided on what made the most sense, and a norm was formed. All your threads, however, suggest that we give up the norms. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying everything should stay the way it is forever. I'm just saying that you always suggest that society changes in a way that would make it one bit easier for every rapist, serial killer and other type of sociopath to do what they do without being caught. Now I'm speaking in very general terms, but one has to ask oneself why showing up in person for an interview should ever be regarded a problem. Doesn't it make a lot more sense for someone who either hire you or let you borrow their apartment to want to see your face, so they know what kind of person is living in the house they own/the company they want to take to the top? Why would you ever feel like meeting someone in person is a hassle? It's an important step, the very first step, in human interaction.

What do I think of this? I think the idea, which seems to only promote an easier everyday, is noble. But practically, this idea means you would never really know who you are dealing with. You wouldn't have a personal relationship to the person who works for you or lives in an apartment you own. For all you know, said person can be so much of an asshole and pain in the ass that upon meeting the guy you never would have given him the job/apartment. Your proposed idea is not an improvement to our current system. It makes things easier, as in, you have to do less physical work. But a thorough idea has to think further than what is comfortable for the individual. If you did what feels most comfortable at any and every given point, your life would be worthless in the end.

an employer wouldn't be able to ask the person questions...

an employer needs to see you in person, face to face, before he/she decides to put you on payroll.

all jobs are different, there is no "standard" way of filling out an application

not to be a prick.. but are you scared of interviews?

A person can always re-take every single scene and question and it wouldn't be possible in person to do so. No real interaction will take place, and it will just give a false sense of what the person really is.

If it was logical, i think everyone would have a Youtube video of themselves...

but nice thought. There is always a good sense in trying to think and improve society, but this idea has more imbalance then it should have.

Well the only thing it offers is convenience but the problem is that it defeats the purpose of an interview. The purpose of an interview is to get a good feel of the person, which a recording does not provide.

So I think it's a bad idea.
