pure classic.

i can go thru the entire album without skipping. i probably enjoyed the most hated track on the album(that i read on 2pacforum befo it got hacked), temptations. 2pac destroyed every damn instrumental.

temptations is tight, i skip track to track11.

2pac destroyed expectations with the release of AEOM afterwards. some might say that MATW was 2Pac's favourite album, probably because MATW reached the #1 spot while he was incarcerated. but Tupac's favourite most politically incorrect album is AEOM, he even said so himself

MATW ftw on 2pac's best 1CD album

Random.

Anyway, I like it, but while it's a great album, few beats on the album are timeless, as a lot of the beats sound dated. That aside, I get bored with Heavy in the Game and Fuck the World, otherwise it's full of solid tracks.

Itz kind of ashame that AEOM's popularity overshadows much of 2pacs work. Not to say that it doesn't deserved too, but that leaves classic albums like MATW slept on a little too much. I guess many people are stuck in that "party" vibe.

Anyway, Oldschool is tha only track I might skip. MIGHT. But this whole album is pretty much solid and I think it should be the standard for sound and concept when artist wanna do albums today. Unfortunately, the only themes that rappers wanted to take from Pac were tracks like Thug Style, Hennessy and Ambitionz Az A Ridah. As versatile as Pac was, artist today and the hip-hop fans in general fail to see how much more he represent on albums like 7 Day Theory MATW. Songs like Blasphemy, If I Die 2nite, Hold Ya Head and Young Niggaz are completely absent today.

It Ain't Easy is my fav on this album. If the intro was an actually song, that would be too. Somebody really needs to make a instrumental out of that.

what everyone has said about the album and the music is cool, but what i am talking about is the albums title track is a statement to the artwork of its cover

me against the world is by far and away 2pac's best album. it's his only classic and one of the greatest albums of all time. one of the best examples of cohesiveness over the length of a full album, maintaining momentum throughout and not letting up at all. such a diverse array of emotions, and more than any of his other work it is most representative of his troubled state of mind and the contradictions apparent throughout his career. suprisingly, it probably hasn't aged as well as a lot of other albums from that period and in particular compared to AEOM and 7DT.

"young niggas" is one of my favorite songs ever and probably the most underappreciated from that album.

Police. Killers with guns. Losing friends (death or disagreement). Witnessing continuous killing. Constant criticism from media and people who don't know him. Suicidal thoughts. The plight of the youth. No time to take it easy even with millions in the bank. Everyone around him dying but he's still alive. Knowing he will be dead soon. No trust for strangers hence the difficulty in making new friends. I think this is what 2pac's referred to as 'the world'.

What made 2pac a stronger character was the message of encouragement for those other people going through the torment of everyday life.

"That's right. I know it seem hard sometimes but remember one thing. Through every dark night, there's a bright day after that. So no matter how hard it get, stick your chest out, keep your head up, and handle it"

'The world' to us is what we go through everyday. The world is what makes us feel like the stress is too much to handle. 2pac wanted us to move on, that's why it was 'me against the world'. He went through the hardships, we are the ones to keep moving on. Indeed we are.

lest we not forget that that this album was about 2pac's dealing with death, that's what he means about him lying against the world

I totally disagree. Even if you like it more you can't say that it's that much better than Makaveli or AEOM - actually I think they were better and definately all 3 are classic. They all haven't aged that much and still Makaveli seems more 'fresh' than Me against the world.
Also there's that argument of which one is more sentimental and touching. I think Makaveli with "Krazy" and "White Man's world" is way more deep than anything on Me against the world which is still way more deep than 99% hip-hop albums anyway.
All Eyez on me is a different kind of album so it's hard to compare. It also had "Holla at me" and "I ain't mad atcha" but people failed to pay attention to specific tracks simply because there were too many other great songs on that album.

There are too many songs on AEOM I think...too many guests. Makaveli on the other hand....classic, despite what allmusic says ;)
