Jumpstyle

When I was around 8 my family moved to Belgium. This was quite a traumatic experience. Here is one of the reasons why...

In the late 90s a "dance" originated in Belgium called 'jumpstyle' performed mostly on a subgenre of techno with the same name. It's popularity sky-rocketed and it has since spread to The Netherlands, France and Germany.

Here is one of millions of youtube videos showing some random fuckwit who was undoubtedly dropped on the head as an infant "dancing" (make sure you turn up the music so you can enjoy it fully):

At first I only witnessed this autrocity online but sadly that's not how it stayed. The last few times I went to a party I noticed the crowd gathering around something and to my utter disgust it was because there were people jumpstyling on the dancefloor. There were the more advanced jumpers that were full of confidence and "danced" all night and there were the more shy jumpers that hadn't studied their online videos quite enough yet and were only confident enough to bust a few .. footstomps and then retreat back into the crowd.

Every sign points to this dancestyle retaining its popularity so this is a warning to people of other countries. Do not let this disease spread any further than it already has. Especially Americans, if this spreads to the US it'll all be over.

On another note (and I can't believe I'm saying this) the French actually did something good. They took jumpstyle and made it their own. It actually looks like a dance instead of some asshole with a muscle disorder standing on hot coals.

And the song isn't half bad.

I like it. The guy in the first vid was in rhythm with the beat. I'd rather see the Euros doing something like this than trying to imitate Americans by doing the Soulja Boy dance, or C-Walkin'.

Well... you dance to the rhythm, that's kind of the point of dancing.

Well that's no different than any other kind of dance spreading. The entire thing is fucking ridiculous. People see a new dance on TV, they learn it, practise it infront of the mirror and then go to the club to show our their amazing dance skills. People C-Walking or doing Soulja Boy's dance piss me off by default, doesn't matter where they're from.

lol

i didn't think it was too bad either. obviously, the guy in the first clip wasn't as good a dancer as the dude in the second clip. but a fused style between the two would probably be even cooler cause the frenchie sorta just stood there. i kinda liked the jumping around. you wouldn't catch me doing it though, and as with all things, some people will be better than others. i generally don't do shit i suck at like singing, dancing, etc, so i never become that problem, but yeah, when retards do it it always looks gay as fuck. as a professional dance it could be a little cool though.

Yeah but it's techno-ish, kind of hard to be follow the beat, I'd say so props to him.

It seems to me you don't approve of ANY dance. You might say you like salsa and tango just so you don't appear uncultured to the masses, or you might be bold and say you don't. Either way, you get my point, right?

I can't stand any of these fuckin dances. Thats one of the main reasons i stopped going to parties, fuckin little kids dancing like they are having a fuckin anxiety attack. It pisses me off seeing stupid little white boys (and every worse wiggers) trying to C Walk. I swear everytime i see them doing it i wanna beat them down with a 4x4! Leave the c walking to the crips and WC homie!

I don't know...
Of course I'm only half-serious with this thread for starters and I can't stands fads to begin with. And then a dance fad? People downloading instruction videos, learning it infront of the mirror and then you see everyone in the club doing the same exact shit? Yeah that's exciting.

I only like dancing on rare occassions but I do see the appeal of it so I don't think specific dances are retarded persay. There are some really nice dance-styles out there like Salsa. The South American dance scene is something I actually really appreciate but to me it's a lot different than Sean Paul videos coming out and people imitating the dancing because that's the "in" thing right now. In South America it's really part of their culture and learning to a specific dance is a natural process... at least that's how it comes across to me.

Nowadays, most club songs seem to come with a specific dance (which pisses me off) so I can see why kids go through all this trouble to learn it. If Laffy Taffy comes on, crank that souljay boy, knuck if you buck whatever, if you don't know the dance specifically, you'll look like an idiot.

Well, when I looked at this thread, it appeared that jumpstyle is kind of more or less authentic, in an urban sense of course. By that I mean, it might be a part of Belgium's urban culture, not a fad kids do to be cool. But, something that's just theirs.

Either way, I'm confident you give an arousing strip performance. :horny:

Well you'll only look like an idiot to idiots. Every single thing about Soulja Boy's video pisses me off so validation from people that like him isn't very high on my list. But! I do get your point.

I think the original rise in the late 90s was definitely a part of a subculture. But now it's become a fad.

Play your cards right :hungry:

By the way, curse you for turning my thread into a discussion. My threads are supposed to be shit :(

Coming into this thread, I didn't expect to laugh like this. That is great. Drunk posts (when authentic) are always encouraged.

Back on topic: Chronic, sad to tell you but this does exist in the states. There is this club I frequent called Ibiza that has an international night and one section is techno-based and these guys and girls go at it all night. Wasn't aware of what the dance style was called though.
