Dina LaPolt, attorney for Amaru Entertainment and Afeni Shakur released the following statement when asked about the case by a related 2Pac fan web site:

“It’s that they failed to get permission from Ms. Shakur and Amaru Entertainment in connection with the authorized use of Tupac’s image. In addition, the moniker “2Pac” is a registered trademark owned and controlled by Amaru Entertainment and, accordingly, using it without permission is a violation of Lanham Act.”

^Not sure but it would truly be sad if they were referring to this site. As far as continuing Tupac's legacy, this site is top notch. Other ones are often filled with assclowns who spread false rumors. If anything, Amaru should be pleased with what this board has done for the 2Pac community.

i dont think amaru cares about the fan sites. i mean, LTTG went at least platinum. while many people from this forum bought it, the fan sites make up a small fraction of the sales of just about everything 2pac. whats more, most fans with so-so knowledge of the internet are thought to bootleg the albums anyway, because of easy access.
in fact, LTTG was leaked here too before the in-store release dates. sure, you cant control some people from posting it (they know theyre going to get banned, but with IP know-how, the accounts are more than often dedicated for leaking stuff...) but it happens, and it will happen with all future releases (at least audio discs).
i really dont know how much we're doing for amaru and why they should be thanking us.

forums are a good idea, but as much as we help amaru and the preservation of the 2pac legacy, we are damaging it to the same extent, if not more.
it beats out most other 2pac forums (i know its not entirely dedicated) but even this website is not perfect.

amaru actually has one person who's job is to monitor web use of 2pac's likeness and the posting of possibly infringing media... the answer would be to revise the adversarial approach and start embracing fansites as a source of free public relation press. when it comes down to it, most sites are run by kids and they will work pretty damn hard for them once a major name recognizes their work. ...makes them feel special, and it doesn't require anything more than an email saying "good job."

webpages aren't the source of leaks - but sometimes they are the source of further spread. efnet and undernet will never die, and that is where it all begins. you can't fight the scene, and artists (or their lawyers) who try to just make rippers want to spread their material even more.

send out some free posters, recognize well maintained websites, make clear the position on posting tracks, and don't threaten to sue everyone who uses 2pac's name in their website. simple enough.

Its sounds like an pwning to me. lol
the 2pacboard url still works. the just took issue with t-shirts, but that's completely understandable being that they ventured into mb shortly after.
