PHOENIX - Forbes Magazine has just released the 2010 "Global Billionaires List," and there are some surprises this year.
For the third time in three years, the world has a new richest man.
According to Forbes, that man is Carlos Slim Helu. He's worth $53.5 billion.
The Mexican tycoon has a series of telecom holdings. Forbes claims his fortune has grown by $18.5 billion in the last 12 months.
Bill Gates comes in at #2 on the Forbes 2010 list, worth $53 billion.
Warren Buffett is #3 on the list, worth an estimated $47 billion.
According to Forbes, billionaires have an average net worth of $3.5 billion, up $500 million this year.
There are a total of 1,011 billionaires this year, up from 793 a year ago.
