Hey. I was curious about Dramacydal's song Tonight (Around the way). I really like the chorus and was curious about the original song.

Does anyone know what song does it sample?

Also Hard to imagine's beat:

Does anyone recognize the sample?

Thanks! Actually it was a mastermind thing that they did with "Tradin war stories". I was convinced that it was completely sampled from something, but they mixed different sounds from a song in an amazing way. It's very hard to tell that it was sampled from it.

I also found some really awesome songs while digging for samples.

Now I'm still curious about "around the way".

I agree about 'trading war stories'. Fans have always wondered what the deal was with the James Brown credit there. This video breaks down how the sample was used.

Did you ever see a documentary which had a woman talking about an element of classical music on the song?

No, I didn't. But yeah, that's the video that I also saw. It's really cool how they made it into such a great beat. Someone must've heard separate sounds and thought how cool they are and mix the together so they would fit together. And they really do.

I still can't figure out "around the way". I'm sure that I've heard a similar song in the past but I can't remember. Also searching for lyrics returns nothing.

"Around The Way" chorus and bridge comes from Dennis Edwards & Siedah Garrett's "Don't Look Any Further" - it's the same song that the "Hit Em Up" bassline came from and one of my favorite soul songs ever.

Unrelated side note - Siedah also wrote "Man In The Mirror" for MJ, which in my opinion is one of the greatest songs of all time.

Thanks very much. I knew that I've heard the song before :p I thought it was something different though.
They made a pretty good job with the "around the way" chorus I think. I really like it.
