threads in our block have been pretty dull latly, so i thought i would try and make it interesting..

these are some questions that i would like to know from evryone..

whats good in your town? why do you like it? what don't you like about it? is it ghetto, rich, poor, full of rahims etc..?

Defend Your Hood!!

i come from grovie, i don't refer to it as a hood.. it's what i like to call, a shithole. there an't no gangsters here, just a bunch of metro's, emo's, jocks and wiggers like woody and myself that drive around in a white corolla listening to 2pac with the windows down.

the "up" side of this shithole is the grovie pub. it easerly has to be one of the best bars in geelong if not melbourne. it is really relaxed, has good live music playing their on weekends, and if your an outsider then the locals allways make you feel welcome.(not one of those bars when you walk in evryone one stops what they are doing and stares at you)

slowly grovedale is expanding with new houses, shops and people, but i wouldn't move if you paid me.. i love my shithole.

in my opinion, my hood is the typical surburban wasteland. however, with that said, it is a good wasteland. i dont live in a shit hole. it's a nice neighbourhood with leafy green trees, luscious green grass, and the obligatory daily garden watering rituals conducted by the elderly populace.

it's probably one of the better "middle class" suburbs within Sydney - all you have to do is look @ the type of people that live here as an indication. it's mainly a suburb for families to begin settling down, and for older people (there are several retirement villages scattered around the suburb).

the main point of attraction would be the local shopping complex. it's pretty big, and there are plans for further expansions which would - allegedly - make it the largest shopping complex in the southern hemisphere. pretty sick. but for me it's not so great. im not big on the whole "enclosed" shopping complexes...they look like fortresses if you're standing outside. and i don't think that having the entire (or most) of the suburbs activity should be centred in a castle-like structure. i find open markets, cafe's and restaurants lining the streets, mixed with heavy pedestrian activity - something like the avenues and alleyways of Rome or Paris.

i said before the main people that reside in this area are people with families, and the elderly. so of course there are many kids here, both young and old. the teenage kids are the stereotypical low lifes. most of them act all gangster and hardcore - and it's left to people like me to remind them that they all live in mansions with nice rose gardens in their front yards, and that the ciggarettes they're smoking were bought with their $100/week allowance given to them by their rich but negligent parents. they dont say shit tho because theyre a bunch of pussies. what they do is just hang outside the shopping complex, smoking their ciggs, and doing absolutely fuck all. where they find the entertainment value in just bumming outside a shopping centre escapes me, but whatever.

also, this area is about a 45 minute drive from the Sydney City, so it's fucked. the only mode of public transport we have to get to the city (or anywhere for that matter) is a fucking unreliable bus service. We're in desperate need of a train link, but apparently that's not coming until roughly 2015 - which i think is fucked up seeing as all these apartments, units and townhouses are springing up everywhere. so these people are coming in their droves but there's a lack of public infrastructure, which to me seems like irresponsible planning. but whatever.

Right now i'm kind of bored with this area. Weekdays most of the shit closes at like 5pm-6pm (except for some cafe's and the cinemas and the drinking holes). Im bored because it's mainly catering for the elderly and people who are settling down. I need the business of a metropolitan life style not the quietness of a suburban lifestyle, so im desperate to get the fuck out of here and relocate closer to the city centre.

South East London (south Norwood/Thornton Heath), its a shit hole. Used to have a crack head living in a shed next to my flat (apartment), he was a nice guy. Only thing good is the local pub. I can be in central London in 20min so that's good I suppose.

There are worse places in London to live.

lol it is the same in Waurn Ponds, (next suburb across from where i live, about a 2 minute walk) except the kids dress in all black and call themselves "different."

I grew up in Slough.

It is a shit hole. No-one speaks English. It has a high murder rate, is full of crime. Has a huge ethnic population and the leaflets are usually written in at least 15 languages. Has a shit day time shopping centre, and even shitter nightlife. It's dirty and depressing. I can't stick up for it, but it's where I grew up and I have a lot of fond (and some pretty shit) memories. The kids are rough and look like they will stab you, and usually do. They all smell and dress like shit.

I now live in Ickenham. It's a middleclass village in London. It's expensive, very very busy. no where to park. Makes LA's rush hour look lovely... The kids are nice and look like the kids do in hollywood family films. Think of the estate where "Bethoven" is set.

But it is very nice. Low crime rate. Nice middleclass neighbours and a large community. It's clean and people care. It's on the piccadilly and metro lines and I can get to Central London in 20 mins. Nightlife is good in Ickenham but a lot better in Soho, Covent Garden and Piccadilly Circus.

I don't live in the city, though my local council has been trying to get city status for my borough.

The town I live in has good resources like a newly refurbished travel interchange, good shopping mall, planty of shops and pubs, a few clubs.

A supermarket is never far away and neither is a library, I wish that there was a big massive book store in the town centre though.

Some boroughs are a bit rough where I live but I know which ones and to avoid them or remember to pack my shotgun.

I live in Warsaw in the hood in block of flats. My district is rather better than worse but has above average crime rate and while there are much more depressing places to live I'd like to move to a better place. Tho I'm not desperate to move as fast as possible because I'm used to living here.
I mean my block is situated nicely, one of the best places in my district. I live near the entrance to the most famous Polish park, in a rather quiet place but only 5 minutes by bus from downtown but still I'd prefer to live in a nice house somewhere in the suburbs. We don't have many "foreigners" in Poland. For my whole life I never saw one in my neighborhood except for those asian tourists in the park.
I'm not a racist but a lot of people here are.
There's like 0.0000000001% black people in Poland while 2 of them were found dead in the lake in our park. That sucks but there are racists everywhere I guess.
What else can I say? We don't have any pubs or clubs here and that's good. There are only blocks, schools and parks here but everything else like malls, cinemas, shopping centres etc. is usually 5-10 minutes by bus.

what can i say about Grovedale, i have some pretty good nights out, but then again i have had countless shitty ones. theres a few cool people where i live such as stred and myself but there are also alot of scum fucks.

not alot go's on in Grovedale, occasionally someone gets beat up or stabbed. One of the coolest things that ever happened was this huge open house party near the high school, any way her parents come home and the party got moved to the oval. it was a pretty cool site to see 300 kids all drinking on the high school oval.

Pretty much any where in the UK is a shithole, every one lives together regardless of income. Where I live, we have a prison smack in the middle of the city, not outside the town, fucking next door to your house. The place is over run by Chavs on a big scale. Our police force really fucking suck ass, they never caught the people that cut half my ear off (bearing in mind that this was in the middle of a fucking shopping complex in the middle of day with hundreds of witnesses and CCTV), my brother got mugged a couple of years back, they took his statement 30 days later?!?!?
There are no NHS dentists here also so unless you can afford a private one your pretty much fucked. Public transport sucks, the buses are supposed to be every 10 minutes yet 3 times last week i had to wait 35-45 minute to catch the bus home.

The only thing good is the nature park and the cathedral.

I live across the street from a retirement community. Those kids are crazy. Also down the street from a H.S. and I watch the boys track team run past and feel like a pedo.

The place I live is just like any other place I guess. But it's the smallest state, so everything is crammed together. I can drive one way for a few minutes and be around decent looking buildings and people.. or I can walk/drive a minute or two down the opposite way and see the complete opposite. Abandoned buildings, crackheads, bums, thugs and all that stupid shit. It gets ridiculous at times, but what the fuck can I do. I don't mind the place I live cause nobody bothers me. I ain't the type of person that reps where i'm from either. That means shit to me. Ain't nothing here to be proud of, rofl.
