There is a difference between someone saying something regrettable on Twitter that might offend some people but it's a joke or whatever and being openly racist or homophobic and showing their beliefs with a tweet then getting the public opinion backlash. I don't feel sorry for these people. Then Hollywood, that's just disgusting
I don't think joking about being a pedophile is simply "regrettable" or "offends
some people" though. Sarah Silverman just had some pedophile joke dug up on her and it's not making the news quite like Harmon's pedophile joke did nor Gunn's.
Trevor Noah went to Australia and straight up dissed Aboriginal women and no one is talking about it.
This makes me wonder if Roseanne's racist joke was just ill-timed. Ha she wait two months, her show would have finished its season and the backlash wouldn't have been as bad.
The silver lining in this whole shit show the past few months of social media snafus and the whole MeToo thing (two very different things) is that it's knocking down powerful people that abused their power. It's also exposing two-faced smug celebrities that preach one thing and do the exact opposite. Regardless of whether Ansari assaulted that random woman, or not, the dude used to beat his dick calling himself a proud male feminist and his standup and TV show used to be full of his virtue signaling calling out every other guy for being a creep, except himself. He "not my Nigeled" himself and then got outed.
Louis CK had a bit about men that would kill women on dates and how much it sucks for women in the dating. Which is true and really is a problem. And then he gets outed for doing some creepy shit with another woman, maybe multiple ones. Same with Takei and his gay escapades.
The more recent social media outings have been mostly done by a right wing nut job. He has his own issues but it's very interesting to see people, especially other women, defend some men and openly blast others when the same information is available to the public about the extent of their actions. And the trend seems to be dictated by political party lines.
Yesterday, it was Chris Hardwick who got his job back with AMC after 1.5 months of suspension. His ex wife straight up said she has proof of his abuse and this dude is back to getting paid. He's got tons of women celebrities supporting him too.
So when Ristol said what he said above about Trump, the people that excused it and looked away were doing the same thing people are doing now now that the shoe is on the other foot and it isn't just conservative dudes getting the axe.
Politics, it's fucking everywhere
