Dan Harmon and the current climate of scalping celebrities.

So Dan Harmon deleted his Twitter after a video he made back in 2009 depicting him as a pedophile resurfaced. It seems that the video was dug up by far right internet people. This new climate of trying to ruin people based on what they have said/done in the past is pretty disappointing. It's both sides too doing it. It seems like this is the direction that things are going. James Gunn just got shit canned for some tweets he made years ago. Roseanne got canceled after her racist tweet.

Everyone had said/done shitty things in their lives. Should they lose their job for it? I dunno to be honest. Maybe they should. The thing that gets me annoyed is the blatant disregard for something that someone from "your side" said or did while having a meltdown over what someone from the opposing side said or did.

I would be willing to let old stuff go if it didn’t end up unveiling some truly sick people in Hollywood. Look up the one guy that was a producer for Nickelodeon that was a pedo with a foot fetish that sent out tweets telling kids to send pics of their feet for prizes.

Also, all the shows he worked on had underage girls doing odd things with their feet, usually with older men. Seemed harmless at the time but after he got outed a month or two ago, all those social media posts made sense.

Fucking kids is common and the easiest thing to get away with in Hollywood it seems. So many people share the same preference and others that don’t have no problem keeping it quiet.

I’m all for edgy humor. Racist humor. I do it all the time. But when it has potential to bite me in the ass, I’ll delete all that shit and hope no one screen capped it.

I’m so happy Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapshat all these other sites didn’t exist when I was in high school. Pretty sure I’d have super dumb shit all over the internet if it did.

There is a difference between someone saying something regrettable on Twitter that might offend some people but it's a joke or whatever and being openly racist or homophobic and showing their beliefs with a tweet then getting the public opinion backlash. I don't feel sorry for these people. Then Hollywood, that's just disgusting

I don't think joking about being a pedophile is simply "regrettable" or "offends some people" though. Sarah Silverman just had some pedophile joke dug up on her and it's not making the news quite like Harmon's pedophile joke did nor Gunn's.

Trevor Noah went to Australia and straight up dissed Aboriginal women and no one is talking about it.

This makes me wonder if Roseanne's racist joke was just ill-timed. Ha she wait two months, her show would have finished its season and the backlash wouldn't have been as bad.

The silver lining in this whole shit show the past few months of social media snafus and the whole MeToo thing (two very different things) is that it's knocking down powerful people that abused their power. It's also exposing two-faced smug celebrities that preach one thing and do the exact opposite. Regardless of whether Ansari assaulted that random woman, or not, the dude used to beat his dick calling himself a proud male feminist and his standup and TV show used to be full of his virtue signaling calling out every other guy for being a creep, except himself. He "not my Nigeled" himself and then got outed.

Louis CK had a bit about men that would kill women on dates and how much it sucks for women in the dating. Which is true and really is a problem. And then he gets outed for doing some creepy shit with another woman, maybe multiple ones. Same with Takei and his gay escapades.

The more recent social media outings have been mostly done by a right wing nut job. He has his own issues but it's very interesting to see people, especially other women, defend some men and openly blast others when the same information is available to the public about the extent of their actions. And the trend seems to be dictated by political party lines.

Yesterday, it was Chris Hardwick who got his job back with AMC after 1.5 months of suspension. His ex wife straight up said she has proof of his abuse and this dude is back to getting paid. He's got tons of women celebrities supporting him too.

So when Ristol said what he said above about Trump, the people that excused it and looked away were doing the same thing people are doing now now that the shoe is on the other foot and it isn't just conservative dudes getting the axe.

Politics, it's fucking everywhere

I feel bad for Gunn because they were obviously really dark jokes and if you watch his early films that’s what he was about. He also made no attempt to hide the jokes and in fact openly discussed them previously, it’s only because this guy now decided that Gunn was a target because of his Anti-Trump tweets that they were blown up. So he’s getting crucified because of hating Trump, because before that, no one really cared.

Man Mark Hamill better watch out...
