So I'm a MASSIVE Nirvana and Hole fan. It seems a lot of Courtney's haters are getting pissed off about this though, however I don't see anything wrong with it.

Here we go:

COURTNEY Love has shocked again by posing as the Virgin Mary while cradling a dying lookalike of her late husband Kurt Cobain - supposed to depict Jesus Christ.

The troubled one-time Hole frontwoman modelled for the cover shot for fashion and celebrity photographer David LaChapelle's new book of images, Heaven To Hell.

The picture is based on the well-known image of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.

Courtney wears a blue dress the same colour as Mary's robes.

And she is depicted nursing a dying man who looks like Jesus.

He also bears more than a passing resemblance to former Nirvana legend Kurt Cobain who killed himself with a shotgun in 1994.

But instead of crucifixion wounds, the man has similar wounds on his arm that could be seen to represent syringe injection marks.

There are also a stack of pills and medicines on a table in the shot.

After Kurt's death, enough heroin to kill three people was found in his system.

Instead of a loincloth the man wears branded underpants and he is blonde, just like Kurt.

The picture of her is the cover shot for the third volume in David's trilogy of books.

He has shot countless provocative images of celebrities including Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Pamela Anderson, Elton John and Marilyn Manson.

He has also directed music videos for Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

David LaChapelle's Heaven To Hell is published by Taschen and is priced £34.99.

meh, i think she's looks pretty hot in those pics you posted too, especially the court ones. the middle ones were from when she was fucked up on heroin, and she looks fine in the top one as well.

and it's not HER book, it's Dave LaChappelle's book that the photo is from. Her book will be out beginning of next year, along with her new album "How Dirty Girls Get Clean". There was a documentary on in UK a couple of nights ago where she premiered some of the new material. My cousin recorded it for me but I havent gotten the DVD off him yet. I know it's going to be hot though, America's Sweetheart was pretty good, and Hole's "Live Thru This" and "Celebrity Skin" are rock n roll classics.

Courtney is a goddess. :thumb:

i despise courtney. whether or not you believe she killed him, the fact is that it was hooking up with her that pretty much led him to the position he ended up in, April 1994.

Also, the way she insulted Krist and Dave during the whole brouhaha in 2002 when they were trying to release "You Know You're Right" was disgusting. I can never respect her because she often uses her dead husband's legacy to advance her own agenda.

the photo cover only attempts to reinforce the notion of kurt being a junkie (track marks on his arm) rather than what he was better known for before his death, the frontman for one of the most popular groups of the time. if she cared so much about her husband she would have tried to block that photo instead of trying to block his last song, you know?

just consistent with what courtney is known for, trying to block the truth (something kurt actually recorded/performed) and trying to perpetuate myth (a painting for christsakes that tries to look real)

The problem I have with this is:

a) it's so easy, so obvious, and so chauvinistic to blame the woman for the man's own issues. Yoko, Nancy, Courtney, you'll see it over and over again. Not taking a dig at you, but this is the way the media loves to portray it and the machismo western culture just laps it right up. Kurt was a feminist, for fucks sake, people who blame Courtney for next to no reason, are basically opposing Kurt's own essence and values.

b) Kurt and Courtney got on better and were a lot happier than some people would have you believe. By implying or stating that he killed himself because of Courtney is not only uneducated, but it's also a theory with no supporting evidence other than ridiculous and outlandish claims made by complete idiots like Tom Grant, Hank Harrison and El Duce. Courtney did not influence Kurt's decision to kill himself, his own personal issues stemming from childhood trauma and drug abuse did. and before you say it, Courtney was trying to get Kurt off drugs, she did not ever encourage him.

Like it or not, COURTNEY controls the legacy, not Dave & Krist. I actually think Courtney went about things the right way, what the hell would have been the point including "You Know You're Right" on the boxset like Krist and Dave wanted, when only hardcore fans are gonna buy the boxset anyway? Courtney was right to hold on to that track for the greatest hits, because it subsequently reached a larger audience while at the same time promoting a product intended to introduce Nirvana to a new generation of fans.

What exactly is Courtney's agenda? I'd love for you to tell me. She has never used Kurt's name or Nirvana's legacy to promote her own work, it's always the media that bring it up because it's obviously something that can't be escaped.

So now Courtney has creative control over someone else's work. The photo was David LaChappelle's concept and creation. Take it at face value for what it is and stop reading between the lines. Perpetuating myth? It would have perpetuated myth more if they had tried to ignore the fact that Kurt was a drug addict by not including track marks on his arms. It's not deliberate, there's no agenda, it's just honest. She never tried to block the release of You Know You're Right, just be more practical with it.

Your statement that Courtney is known to block the truth and perpetuate myths is pure hatred.

besides, Kurt was the KING of perpetuating myths, like the story about him living under the bridge? or how about the one where he was arrested for spray painting "God Is Gay" on a wall - when records show he actually wrote "Aint got no how watchamacallit". i could go on.

Oh, and as for You Know You're Right being one of Kurt's last songs, far from it... perhaps you don't know that he was actually recording four track demo's in March 1994 including what is generally thought to be his last track "Do Re Mi", with Pat Smear on guitar, Eric Erlandson of Hole playing bass, Kurt on drums and vox, and no Dave or Krist anywhere in sight (since he'd fallen out with them at that point).

i know about do re mi, but even that she has dangled and the rest of the march 1994 sessions in front of people's faces for years. i should have probably said nirvana's last song instead of "kurt's last song."

i was pretty pissed off about journals too. kurt made it clear many times about how much he valued his privacy. wonderful of courtney love to go and expose him there as well.
