Can "Grab the Mic" work as a single?

Being fumed over the recent let down :fury: .

And celebrating/mourning pac's recent 10 year anniversary. I listened to some of the old classics, and rediscovered this track from Makaveli 5.

I think this is Pac at his purest, his lyrics and voice just come off the track on this song. Plus its three unheard verses, rather then two or one, with another gay guest artist.

I believe this song can really motivate people, and possibly develop into another changes if done correctly. Its Pac in his hip-hop form, rather than rap. Opinions? Should they re-do the beat, or keep it, thats the decision im really torn on.

No they shouldn't redo the beat, but they will, and they'll take out the chorus samples too, and maybe even a Pac verse, gotta make room for T.I.

I think it'd be a perfect single. The lyrics are great and it IS Pac at his best. I think the beat would barely even need modifications to make it marketable.

"Livin to tell/ Prison is hell/ for a nigga/
They usin my bail/ build bigga jails/ for a nigga/"

The song has some very deft lyricism in it

I agree. Too bad it most likely be remixed and cut up. 50, buck and chamillionare r gonna be on tha album, so there's probably no hope for a lot of OGs...

You guys kidding? The beat is dope as hell. Maybe it's just the quality that throws you off or something.

Your thinkin in terms of yourself selfishly, were thinkin in terms of a hit single, and whats best for the publicity of the album

I could see it as a single.. remixed of course.. i personally love the og beat.. has a nice old school feel to it and goes well with pac's delivery... but yea as a single it would definately have to be remixed.. Cant imagine hearing it on the radio in og form.

i like the OG beat...Gravediggaz used it on their first album. Im only for editing out "grab the mic" rakim lines in the background along with the "somebody in the house say yeeeaa".
