Atheist kills mother whilst reciting Dawkins

I don't necessarily disagree or agree with your other points, just wanted to give my opinion on this. It's kind of like having a dice with 2,000,000 sides. If you throw it and correctly guess the number that it will land on it will seem nearly impossible. When you're on the living end of such odds it seems much more miraculous than it really is. And given the size of our universe the odds may not be that unfathomable.
I understand this, just like you put a group of monkeys into a room over the course of a trillion years they will type Shakespeare. But it becomes a matter of taste at that point, it becomes a matter of subjectivity. I'm not weighed down by that, at least as much as I can be. I think there is a lot in this universe that could be considered evidence, I'm just not sure if it is. I really don't think any one should have a strong opinion about these manners.

Even if you theorize that all this couldn't have just come from nothing, that doesn't mean it came from God. All it says is that maybe it didn't come from nothing. Fine. You can theorize it came from another universe or that this nothing as we know it is really something on a quantum level. Fine. That still shouldn't point at anything like anyone's conception of a god. It shouldn't bring any comfort, promise of an afterlife, or meaning to you if you believe in a process you don't understand. There's no reason to theorize that it needs your prayers or elaborate ceremonies or anything from you. All you can say is that this must have come from somewhere or out of something, I don't know what. No need for beliefs or names or attributes or stories with moral endings. Hence, extreme atheism is still warranted.
That is fair enough, I agree to attribute a personality to god is asinine. And if you don't think there might be or is something more, that is fine. But when I read extreme atheism, I think of a person who thinks they are more intelligent and in a way better than any one who does have faith. And that is something I just cannot respect, I'd gladly kick anybodies ass who is like that.

Update on the original story.

Ugly Betty Actor Claims He "Killed The Demon Inside" Of His Mother | PerezHilton.com

OMG! So scary.

We previously reported that actor Michael Brea was arrested for killing his own mother with a Freemason ceremonial sword, but now he's talking about the incident while being held at the prison ward of Bellevue Hospital.

Brea said:

"I didn't kill her. I killed the demon inside her. So be it. It was the work of God.

I was sleeping in my bedroom. God came above my bed and reached his arm to me I said, 'God, is my time on earth over' I heard a voice say, 'Yes Michael, today is your last day.' I asked if I could say goodbye to my family."

After he described the dream where God spoke with him, Brea joined the Prince Hall Masonic Temple in Harlem a week later and claims a man tried to put a curse on him.

He added:

"[He] kept trying to put something in my hand but wouldn't show it to me. I kept opening my hand. It was a Freemason pin. I wouldn't touch it.

I felt like Neo from 'The Matrix.' I began hearing voices and feeling powerful. They were asking about the difference between mom and mother. It was a sign.

I knew I would never see my mother again. I gave her lots of love."

Brea came home and hugged his mother before lighting candles in his room and placed a dagger and a 3-foot ceremonial Freemason sword by his side.

Authorities believe he stole the sword from the Masonic lodge, but Brea insists his father had gave it to him as a child. He arranged three saint cards around him which included Saint Jude holding a sword. His mother knocked on the door and ask him to pour water from a pot where she was cooking three chickens.

Brea continued:

"It's a powerful sword.

I looked at these chickens lying dead in the pot and a voice told me it was a sacrifice. It was black magic.

She had the voice of the demon. I opened the door with the dagger at my side and the sword. I asked, 'Do you believe in God?' She said, 'No, Michael no,' and began screaming. I began slashing her like this [bringing his right hand down in a violent hacking motion]."

He chased from room-to-room, swinging the sword and leaving a sickening trail of blood in his wake.

He added:

"I didn't want to kill her right away. I wanted to give her time to get right with God. I was slashing my mom and I heard the police knocking on the door yelling, 'Michael, open up, Michael, open up,' but I knew they wouldn't open the door and stop me because the spirits were protecting me.

I just kept cutting her. No one could stop me. I was doing the work of God.

I'm named after a saint myself - Saint Michael. He was protecting the house from the police. They weren't allowed to enter the apartment.

I heard voices telling me how powerful I was, saying 'Oh he's good.'

Grand Architect of the Universe means God. I was praising God. To you it might sound silly, but in my culture demons are very real."

When police broke down the door, they found a trail of bloody footprints and handprints on the walls and floors, and Yannick Brea on her knees in the bathroom.

Michael stood with the sword in one hand and a Masonic Bible in the other.

While giving the interview, he showed no remorse as his eyes stayed focused on a reporter. He is still convinced he did the right thing.

Sick.

lmao @ vg.

No, but really, this guy was a nutcase. Even as a staunch religion-hater, I'm *not* (edit, seems i left that one out, lol) gonna blame this one on organized religion. This was just one whackjob.

I giggled at ceremonial Freemason sword btw. Why is it sharp when it's ceremonial? Stupid Freemasons...

The guy reminds me of a distant family member; he thought an angel told him to give all his money away to people 'that were chosen by God'. He practically went bankrupt cause he gave away thousands to random individuals. He was eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia and he's on heavy duty medication.

I didn't read all of these posts. But I have a rare complaint about religious people and not religion itself. This seems to be a thread where I can make it.

I voluntarily choose to do some things b/c I like being my version of a "good person." Several people have decided to say that I do this because their chosen deity is "working through me" in "mysterious ways."

There's no winning with some people. It really gets under my skin too. It's like as opposed to people saying "Oh, she's an atheist AND a good person." They say, "She's just lost, but god is working through her still."

>.<

So, in other words....

Atheist have problems with weak minded people, not exactly religion itself...?
I have a problem with the story of Virgin Mary because it negates my theory that all women are whores.

Will this end up on page 10?

^^ UP North, there are a lot of Catholics. They aren't as outspoken, relative to their Protestant counterparts down South. Never once did I hear a student say "pray for so-and-so" in high school. In college, all the time.

"Oh, you're gonna pray for me? That's awesome, because I'm gonna go do some blow and fuck that hooker. But you got it? Thanks man." -David Cross
