I'll be getting one soon. I do have an interest in owning a gun since renting it at the gun range can get expensive over time.

^I know it's a requirement in some states to undergo that training before you can attain your license. Is that the case in MI? In my state, you just go and fill out some paperwork, they do a background check, and you're good to go. lol

^^Do you have to pass a test to get that?
Nope. Just meet the qualifications which are reasonable. Not be a felon, not have a history of domestic violence, not be a mental patient within the past five years. Takes 30 days to process and then i'm able to purchase weapons and ammunition.

Handguns were illegal in Chicago until recently I believe. Now, in order to own a handgun in Chicago you must past a training course, obtain a permit and register the weapon with the police department.

I don't own a gun but I plan on buying one or two. I like going to the range and shooting things :) Plus.. when z0mbi3z take over, i'll be able to be of some use as opposed to shooting myself or another survivor. :D

IDK that we are allowed to carry a concealed weapon here though.

Yeah you have to complete a training course

Heres the requirements:

  • Applicant files their application with the county clerk in the county in which the individual resides. This must include: (1) a copy of the certificate of completion of the pistol safety training course, and (2) a passport quality photograph.
  • Applicant pays a fee of $105 to the county clerk at time of filing.
  • Applicant receives a receipt for payment.
  • Applicant provides receipt and has fingerprints taken by sheriff department or a local law enforcement agency. However, the local agency may charge an additional $15 for the taking of the fingerprints. Some sheriff departments participate with a vendor to provide applicant finger printing. There is no additional charge for this service.
  • Sheriff department or local police agency forwards fingerprints to the Michigan State Police for processing.
  • Once county gun board receives the fingerprint comparison report, they will issue or deny the license within 45 days.

I hate you all. The best part of living on a military base in the U.S. was going to the shooting range. Only gun I've used here and I think the only gun you legally can use for recreational use in the UK is a shotgun for Clay Pigeon shooting.

I would if I lived in the US.

I like handguns. And I would have an assault rifle also, it would be rude not to.

Shooting guns is fun.

I carry a rod on me. A nuclear-fuel rod.

Boy, the board became gun happy since the last time guns were discussed. That's what happens when Duke's not here.

You know, you don't need a concealed-carry license to own a gun and take it to a shooting range. You just keep it in the trunk with the ammo separate from the gun.

Yeah thats true. The odd thing in my case is that Im not allowed to have a gun license as Im not a citizen or a GC holder.

The main reason Im getting the CCW is because it gives me the training too. I figured, if I want to learn I might as well get something out of it :p

I think they are pretty strict on handguns in WA. I not 100% sure, but i'm certain you cant shoot trespassers and burglars on your property like you can in other states.

You can't just shoot trespassers and burglars in any state, unless under certain restrictive conditions where you feel your life is in danger and you have done everything you can, short of shooting them, to chase them away. You will still have a legal headache before you if you've followed all the rules and still had to shoot someone. Shooting someone is serious shit, as it should be.

Oh man I'd love to own a gun but I'd scare the shit out of me that it could harm anyone in some way, lol. I'd probably keep it in a wall safe. But I always enjoyed weapons. I'd love to go to a shooting range some day.
We can't have guns here though, only under special circumstances. And whenever someone dies in your surroundings you are the first suspect.
