Anyone here shoot IPSC? Im considering going into the Production class and trying to get to the European Champs in Belgrade in 2010.

If anyone shoots, especially Production, what are you carrying? I thought about the Glock 17 but really prefer the CZ SP01 except for the first shot, its double action compared to the single on the Glock and its apparently fucking annoying in comps.

I have a Sig Sauer P220 Sport, .45. I mainly go to the gun range or take it when I go to the mountains. My roommate has an AK and it scares me, I so do not want to get busted with that

The P220 is a nice handgun I looked at for the production class but I really do prefer either the Glock 17 or the CZ SP01.

How do you find the P220? Do you compete?

The AK isnt a handgun obviously so its not really anything to do with this thread but yeah, cool, my dad used to have one, nice weapon I guess but theres many better options. Cheap and nasty but good.

i dont do compition but i go to the gun range all the time.

I just recently picked up the new sig p250. really great gun.

my main carry gun is my bersa thunder 380. it's much more concealable than my sig at this point (until sig starts to put out the compact and sub compact grips for it) and there really aren't any companies making the holsters since it is so new.

I have two rifles. a savage arms bolt action 22. i've had this since i was about 10 years old. last month I picked up a high point 9mm carbine. i put on the aftermarket ati stock and it looks dope as hell. i'll post some pics up in a bit.

i just got my ccdw license last year so i've been looking at a lot of handguns that are concealable and light to carry. i'm considering picking up the new ruger sr9 or the new walther pps ( i really really want this one).

^^ Check out the CZ range. They do a concealable version of the SP01. CZ make fantastic guns, and its the most used gun by law enforcement agencies in the world.

Its a very solid Czech built handgun, the SP01 tactical is brilliant, cant be fired double or single action. Really really fantastic weapon. My only concern for comp times is that its first shot is always double action which puts me off a little compared to the strictly single action Glock 17. But in regards to which is the better gun the CZ wins hands down.

It's taken out a lot of IPSC comps around the world since it's release.

Check it out.

i've been reading up on some of the CZ's after a local gun shop owner was showing me a few after asking him if he had any magnum research baby eagle compacts. i like the the CZ 75 and 75 compact and the 2075 . they make some nice looking firearms and i would love to shoot one some day. i've been comparing the CZ75(or maybe it was the P01, i think the P01 is replacing the 75) and the new Armalite AR24, they are suposed to be pretty much the same, i'm trying to figure out witch one i like more.

i know what you mean about the double action thing. i've been used to single action mostly. my bersa is a da/sa and my dad has some single actions that i had gotten used to. my sig is strickly DA so it is taking some adjusting for me.

i've been reading that with compitions shooters it really depends on the person. i read this article about DA vs SA when it comes to comps and most of the big winners in comps around the states used DA only.

there are some local comps at the gun ranges around here. there is a little bit of pocket change to be won and a few other things. i've been wanting to get into it but finding the time right now is hard. hopefully this summer i'll have more time when the weather is nice.

and now for my girlsfriends :D

as soon as i bust out a camera the cat felt like getting right in there

my dad has my 22 savage arms so it's not pictured

Nice, puffy. What kind of sight is that on the .9mm carbine? Nice ki ki!!

I only shoot at the range. I have a S&W .9mm and a Thompson .45 I want to get a AR-15 this summer. Hopefully that will happen. I might get one of those .9mm carbines also. They look sweet as fuck.

You guys are out of control! No wonder there's so much shooting going on at competitions!

Go with the CZ, Ruk, you'll get used to the double-action 1st shot, plus it's a nicer-looking gun. I've seen ppl do just fine with it in competition.

I like Berettas because I like the way they look.

I don't shoot yet but guns are beautiful and I know a lot of theory :)
I used to love all that military stuff when I was younger.

Puff you should sign up with an IPSC club and try to come to Belgrade with me in 2010. And the CZ's are really great fire arms for the production class but Id recommend getting the lighter factory made springs.

i started reading up on the IPSC's US region. There is a club about 30 mins from. The comps look like a lot of fun. I think I'm going to look into joining soon. With the cost of ammo the way it is I will def have to start getting into reloading if I do

Yeah man it's great fun. It's like the first stage of COD4 where you do the time trial running through the little wooden house.

Guns are illegal in UK. Except shotguns and a few rifles. So I cannot legally shoot guns.

However, I prefer the Glock 17 as a handgun, as do most police forces. And the AK is a nice assualt rifle, but I have found there are too many jams in practice, although it seems to contradict what I have read about them being reliable.

Guns are illegal here as well Pitts. However, if you join a club and compete in 6 club shoots a year you can get a license for comp purposes. The UK has to be the same as they compete in the IPSC world and European shoots.

The way it is here, and its the process I am going through right now, is you join a club and you can shoot the club owned guns or borrow one of a club member, then after 6 months you can do a gun safety course through our college system here called Tafe and apply for a H (handgun) license, that takes about 4 to 6 months to process and finish the safety course. At that point you can buy one hang gun, and then after another 6 months you can buy more.

I prefer the CZ Sp01 tactical, and it is actually the most preferred hang gun by military and police organizations in the world, more so than the Glock 17.

I think our competition members have to go abroad to practice. I remember them complaining before about it (The gun ban) harming their olympics hopes.
