"The 5th Annual Night under the Stars Birthday Bash with Carlos Coleman and Friends" is scheduled for Saturday, July 28th 2007, 8:00PM at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Performing Arts, located at 5616 Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain, GA 30083. The annual event is a celebration of the arts and community designed to promote the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation in its mission of exposing children to the arts. The event includes a fashion show along with various performances from artists from various genres of art including spoken word, music and visual art. The evening is an all-white affair. "We are proud of how big the event has gotten over the last five years. It's a great way to celebrate the arts, our community and most importantly to get people out to see all the wonderful things going on at the center," says Carlos Coleman, coordinator of the event. "Every year we are humbled at the number of celebrities that come out to celebrate and support Tupac's (2Pac) legacy."
In addition to the grand festivities, Carlos and the TASF staff wishes supporters to recognize and support the end of the Performing Arts Day Camp where the "9th Annual Production Shoulders of Giants Starring Pac Kids" will be held on August 4, 2007 @ 7:00 p.m. at the Rialto Theater in downtown Atlanta. This event is sponsored in part by The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation and A J Miles Media Group. The Pac's Kids annual program is a 4 week intense training period that culminates into a closing ceremony production. This year's closing ceremony will feature Pac's Kids theatrical performance entitled "Shoulders of Giants" in support of the Pac's Kids performance; Carlos Coleman will host the event.
ABOUT THE TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR FOUNDATION
The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation (TASF) was founded in 1997 by the mother of the murdered hip hop icon, Afeni Shakur, to bring quality arts training to young underprivileged children. A broad range of training is offered at the TASF. To date over 750 youth ages 12-18 have participated in our annual summer program. In addition to the summer program the TASF offers community service through the PAC's kids summer program, conflict resolution exchange, sports and entertainment coalition, college and technical schools tour, arts film screening.
