here it is in a nutshell. with an ipod you can expect the battery to hold a decent charge for 12-15 months. after that you will have to pry open the case and replace the battery. The ipod is a pleasure to use in terms of the software but the battery is such a fuck. the sony and iriver equilivelent holds 30 hours battery. the ipod is actually put together with incredibly cheap parts. also there is the danger that if you drop the ipod you could get the exclamation point sign meaning the hard drive is fucked. I think the ipod is actually being sold as a fashion thing rather than anything else. its a gimmick that will eventually becomre redundant. One good thing though is that becuase there are so many ipods about parts are cheap and easy to come by. check ebay. Also the ipod has no remote control plus scratches easy.

now for the psp. i think this is the future. sony has quality written all over it. also i am sure there will be replica cheap memory cards available once there is enough demand. Plus i was reading on some website that they are working on modifying the psp to play copy games which you could probably get of the net. One major drawback of the psp is sony are reknown for bad software thats a pain to use. but overall i would get the psp anyday and would love tro swap my ipod for one

holla if you any more questions

psp is pretty big for a mp3 player if you just want it for that, they have 1gb memory cards for sale if i remember correctly, and the movies which cost 20 cdn are dvd quality. Pretty awesome little machine, if you want a game for it get Lumines, most addictive game i've played in awhile.

the mem cards are expensive though, especially the ones with large capacity. if i remember correctly you're paying over 100$ for a 1GB card.

To LL Cool Pac-
The battery rumor is OLD. That was with the old iPods. The new iPods haven't been out for 12-15 months, so you don't know what the new iPods will do. I have had an iPod mini for exactly 12 months now, and I have had no problems with the battery.
By the way, apple is making a device similar to the PSP that is to be launched later this year. I would save up for that and keep your iPod if music is your thing. If your thing is games, then I would still probably save up for apple's version, just because I like apple products better.
iPod also has an optional remote control.

Here is the answer for the ipod battery

http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthread.php?threadid=19556

I have the same battery of my ipod for 4+ years strong. Always recharged never let drain all the way which will count a one cycle out of 500 cycles.

The ipod is a pleasure to use in terms of the software but the battery is such a fuck. the sony and iriver equilivelent holds 30 hours battery.
Already responded to this. Butin terms of other mp3 players I have heard some goods things about the iRiver with most significally it has a built in fm tuner while ipod you need to buy the component to it and it does not have that strong of signal.

the ipod is actually put together with incredibly cheap parts. also there is the danger that if you drop the ipod you could get the exclamation point sign meaning the hard drive is fucked.
Anything with a hard drive can be fucked up by the hard drive since it reads with a little pin almost. I have dropped my ipod numerous times and thankfully everything is fine. Just get a warranty with anything mp3 related hard drives.

The "gimmick" has been going strong more than 5+years you would think a gimmick will last 1 or even the most 2 years. Also the ipod do have remote controls.

As for psp I would get one as well if I need one which pretty much I don't. I already have an iPaq Pocket PC which is loaded with games, granted it is not as great as game as the psp but I think I will manage. Also with my ipod I can use it in the gym and plug it in to my car. Big advantages for me since I usually am in my car and the gym most of the time. But its your lifestyle and choose the one in which it will benefit you. Ipod benefit's me.

Of course the iPod is being marketed as a status symbol. You just have to look at the ads to realise that. Doesn't mean they're not good products (though they are overpriced). The new Zen Micros are being marketed based on their aesthetics rather than practicality.

naw dog! it is pretty fucking sick if you get a 2GB Memory card(they are talking about 3-4 GB cards in the future) the picture quality is better then your TV. Graphics are stunning on Gameplay, it is Wi-Fi out the box so you can play others all around the globe, you can even Surf the net!!

it is much more then a Gameboy Boy!

of course I know what an Ipod is, I am just saying I can see how someone may be on the fence as to what one to buy, my cousin bought a Ipod a few days before PSP launch and saw my PSP and said "I should have bought that insted"
