Running

Personally I HATE running. I hate sprinting. I hate jogging. Hell I hate walking at a brisk pace.
Yet still required to do it every morning lol. This isn't a bitching thread though, what are your thoughts on running? Do you enjoy it? Despise it? And if you do, what's your personal method of blocking out the "running" aspect?
For me, it helps if I call a cadence in my head and every time my right foot hits the ground, I say left. So if I'm Thinking "left, left, left right left" then I'm actually running "right, right, right left right" it sounds stupid but it actually helps focus less on the physical activity and more on NOT staying in step. Idk, it's silly but it works for me.

Tl;dr: feelings on running.
On your mark. Get set. Go.

I keep meaning to start running again in this wooded area behind my house but I'm afraid a tick is going to get me. My co-worker wants me to run a 5k soon so i better start :/

I've been pretty disciplined with the running for a little more than two months now. Started just jogging around the block but it's gotten to be a serious thing. Doing 5 miles four days a week.

I can't run around the block or go to a lake and run with everyone else. It's too weird and easy to be distracted. I hate running as well. Instead, I choose to play sports where I still get good exercise but don't feel bored doing so.

I'd be more worried about Big E.

Ever try to replace it with jump-rope? I'm not much of a jogger myself, but jumping-rope in itself is one hell of a work out to get your blood pumping.

I play basketball a lot and I run the whole time and get an overall better workout through it without ever getting bored.
I would replace it with basketball entirely if I could but the running is mandatory.
The heat an humidity here doesn't help at all, it's like running in a fucking sauna.
Ristol that's impressive. I run like 3-4 miles five days a week and am so anti-motivated about it so you running five four days a week is admirable.

used to run 1 mil every day, then got to 2 miles every day for 5/7 days.

but since i've been working i dont run at all. my job is too fuckin hard to keep doing and still work out AND run. my body feels like dying sometimes. Hopefully if i get more water intake and got this protein drink, i should be good to start running again.

I dont see how ya'll run 3/4 miles tho. fuck that. i only did that for football in HS.

Man I never run unless it's required for PT or I'm playing ball. And running any further than a mile is crazy. Our PFT requires us to run three miles, when will I ever need to run for three miles straight? I see the need for hiking forty miles but running three miles is retarded, won't ever be used in combat, we've got humvees and guns and shit.

That does make sense. But we could get endurance through other ways, cross training perhaps. Swimming, etc. Or weight lifting. Running five days a week is extremely one dimensional. But I suppose people much smarter than me and several pay grades higher are the ones making the decisions lol.

Usually between the end of the last season and the beginning of the new one i run about 5 miles 3 times a week. Same goes for the winter break. I quite like it.
