Why Do Black People Want Other Black People To Fail?

In Nas' latest CD and clothing line he openly criticizes Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods...Tiger Woods is walking holding hands with his white wife (obviously in a negative context) and Kobe is shining a white man's shoes...My question is why?...Why do black people criticize other black people for assimilating in American society?...Political figures are seen as "uncle toms" and people who arent "real" are openly criticized as being white-washed, etc...You never see this in the same frequency with any other race, especially in America...Why black people, why?

I dont think its about failing, i think its more to do with appeasing or assymilating into a society or system of governemnt that once was the cause of so much oppression towards "their" peoples. To ease their suffering some decided to change the system, wheras others opposed it. Some of those who tried changing the system had become so assymilated that they became instrumental in the oppression of others, hence the term uncle tom, house nigger.

At the top is still the white man, and no matter how hard u assymilate that is never going to change. Times may have changed, people may have changed but the memory lives on.

As for Nas, I dont doubt he feels this way but he is simply using it to raise awareness of the prodcts he is selling by being controversial and drawing attention to it. In the end they all sold out.

Because there's a mentality among many blacks that they need to remain separate from whites. Fear of losing their identity or being exploited, maybe. I think it's probably much more prevalent in the US than over here.

WTF that's like saying if a black uses a white man to help him out the gutta he's considered an instant sellout but if he uses an black man he's not.
I bet the staff at Naz's label are more than 70% white so he can shut up :p

yea but their identity is based on pop-culture...Whites could care less about identity...They blast themselves about their own culture that they themselves live in...

I think also it helps to perpetuate the victim mentality, the idea that black people are being 'held down' by 'the man'.

It's because the political leaders left are frauds who boycott chicken and make t.v shows, while they create false causes to fight for. Black People don't have any political representation being that nobody offers a political consequence for ex: We need this or else we'll......

Selling out is a major issue in our community because we are still not properly focused on gaining control over our own communities as far as building our own schools, hospitals, businesses and etc. For ex: This is exactly what the Cuban community is doing down here in Florida. They are becoming properly organized. Every race outside of the White race does this it's just that black people have been held down by little things such as Slavery, Denial of Rights, Crack, Assasination, Colonization and such.

We were close to winning when The Panthers and Malcolm were around but they're all dead and shit so the attitude is fuck it cause muthafuckas love it, especially white people.

Black people dont want other black people to fail, please stop that pathetic why black people why? Like your really concerned and your not just being cynical.

Like they say there were two kinds of slaves there was the house negro and the field negro the house negro they lived in the house, with master. And if you came to the house negro and said lets run away, lets escape, lets seperate that house negro would say man you crazy. That house negro loved his master but that field negro remember, they were in the majority and they hated the master.

In other words we enjoy it when we see a Puff Daddy or Master P, Samuel L. Jackson or a Denzel Washington make it. It's obvious they are representations of our community they stay true to who they are as far racially and displaying certain morals that we live by. When it's somebody like Tiger Woods, or Cuba Gooding jr. We just take a pass because it's obvious they are not good representations of us. They are well mannered and well spoken but yuou can tell they've compromised themselves to fit the stereotypical image the higher ups would like us to have.

That's exactly what I meant when I talked about separation. The focus shouldn't be on building up black communities or white communities or Cuban communities, but building up an integrated community.

What has Tiger Woods compromised? What has Cuba Gooding Jr. compromised? Just because they don't act like a stereotype, like 99% of rappers do, doesn't mean they've conformed to someone elses standards. Is being well-mannered and well-spoken not a good image to have? Can you explain what it is you don't like about them?
