Russia threatens Poland with nukes

First they threatened Poland and other countries because of their support for Georgia and now this.

Russia is fucking nuts. I doubt they're crazy and stupid enough to try something, but then you never know...

They've been threatening Poland with war over this system for over a year now, and at one stage it seemed Poland was having second thoughts, but after Russia invaded Georgia I guess the Polish Government went full steam ahead with the project. But this is the first time that an EU nation has been flat out officially threatened with nuclear weapons.

^^ With the amount of US military presence in Germany and the amount of money going into their economy because of it I think that label is better fitted to them.

and how is america in ANY position to criticise russia for "disproportianate attacks on a soveriegn state" when they invaded and totally fucked Iraq up 5 years ago, with them now struggling to contain the emergence of a civil war.

seriously, all the ex soviet nations just have this vendetta against the russians. rather than working with them they are trying their utmost hardest to work against them, and it creates conflict. they are running to the west because they are a bunch of pussies.

You have it backwards, it is Russia that has this vendetta against ex-Soviet states. Not once has Russia made any effort to become friendly with these nations, just a bunch of threats and oil games. They don't want to see ex-Soviet states succeed.

Russia even refused western help with their submarine disaster which cost the lives of those sailors.

Notice that Russia is not threatening the US, they are threatening Poland and the Czechs. They are trying to strong arm their neighbors. Even Georgia was an example to other ex-Soviet states that Russia, at least wants to be, very much in control of the region.

They threatened Poland and other countries with attack after they expressed support of for Georgia with war as well.

They're just chest beating, trying to appear tough. I doubt they will do anything they're just off of a high from their Georgia win, but Poland is a totally different story they have a large army, an airforce, and are full members of Nato. Russia would get spanked HARD.

It is no question that Russia is strong-arming its neighbors and ex-Soviet states and that it is keen on controlling the whole region. Hell, the whole EU is in the hands of the Russians for the next 20 years or more due to its energy policy.

However, it is also no question that America is building a missile defense system to increase control in Europe and fend off a potential attack from Iran and Russia. Therefore, I can't blame the Russians and I have to say that I respect their cold war rhetoric much more than America's transparent lies of building and sharing democracy.

On a side note, if Obama is President, US hegemony is no more.

Rukas is right on this one, although it's a fact that our president doesn't like Russians. Also that missile system might turn against us as Obama might not care about military instalations as much as Bush does, Americans will probably stop caring about Poland and we will be on our own again (like always).

Poland is a bitch for America now. We don't get ANYTHING and we agree on everything from them. Wtf many european countries got no-visa policy but we didn't. It's crazy to me.

And about Russians - they are really much much worse than Americans, because they're unpredictable. They can do just about anything and don't care about human life much.
