Beyonce Knowles broke down in tears after a recent visit to a drug rehab clinic proved too much.

As MTV previously reported – in her new movie Cadillac Records, Beyonce is set to act out the life of soul star Etta James who battled drugs through her life, and to truly understand the character, Knowles visited a rehab clinic.

The “If I Were A Boy” singer went to Brooklyn, New York and spent some emotional time with six African-American women who were battling heroin addiction.

Jay-Z’s lady confessed she was terrified and didn’t know what to expect.

“I said, ‘I have to do this movie’ – but I was terrified. I never tried drugs in my life so I didn't know about it all.”

“It was hard to go to rehab. I learned a lot about life and myself.”
