Artificial sweeteners and insulin
My question is: is there any truth to what I heard about artifical sweeteners triggering insulin release due to their sweet taste? Because I drink a lot of Pepsi Max, fanta free and such, and I use splenda in my oatmeal and in my coffee, so if this is true I've been messing with my insulin levels in ways I intended to avoid. I've read so many articles that all seem to say different things so I decided to see if there's anyone here who could bring some clarity to this?

Re: Artificial sweeteners and insulin
Aspartame is not a healthy alternative.

Re: Artificial sweeteners and insulin
id suggest cutting out on the artifical sweetner in coffee/foods but in canned beverages i dont see as much of a problem. unless you're drinking several cans a day

Re: Artificial sweeteners and insulin
Cutting out canned drinks altogether wouldn't be a bad move.

Re: Artificial sweeteners and insulin
aspartame won't raise your insulin, same with sucralose/splenda. sweet taste doesnt neccessarily mean it will affect your insulin/blood sugar level.for example, sucralose is a regular sugar molecule with atoms removed,so it still has the sweet taste, but with the absense of certain atoms,it doesnt get digested.
try to get diet soda with sucralose instead of aspartame.aspartame is a nasty sweetner, very controversial.

You can even try Sativa , however it can be a little bitter tasting sometimes.. Like Mack said go with the sucralose , not truly made from sugar. Just has to compounds that are the same , its all synthetic and nothing natural about it. Wont raise your insulin nor will you body recognize it.

What is Diet Soda? Fat free ice cream is like tasteless salt.
Tofu is not a health food for me because I grew up with tofu being a regular part of my diet, thank goodness for the culture I have in me.
