motivation?
What is your reason to work out? Some might want to lose fat, some to gain weight, some might want to gain strength while others maybe want to work on their speed - so tell us your story guys.

Re: motivation?
I started hitting the gym about 10 years ago.. My father motivated me much at this period of my life. When i was 18 we moved to another city, and after a break i started lifting weights again. 3 years later, when i was in the univercity, i entered my first championship and won. I was in the 176 lbs junior category... shredded like a muthafukka lol.. After the victory i felt like i needed it even more than before, (there were thoughts about being a pro, but all this roids-abusement didn't attract me) i entered my 2nd local championship and placed 5th leaving 11 guys behind me. After that i had neither time nor wish to continue it - there were another proirities at that period. Now i train for myself again. It helps me alot in my life now - i feel more comfortable and more confident.
btw according to wife, my lats stroke her when she first met me, so w/o the gym i wouldn't be the person who i am now... married

Re: motivation?
I started training about 4 years ago now when I was 19, I started working for these two guys who were really into training and looked real good, they were my inspiration and they got me into it, now I really love working out and have really turned it into my lifestyle, I guess I found something that I love doing. Over the four years I've put on a total of 3 and a half stone, now I'm only a stone away from my original goal that I have always aspired to, so that is really got me motivated lately, oh and I've never used any steroids and I dont plan on either.

Re: motivation?
A quote from Michael Jordan really.
"I've always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come. I don't do things half-heartedly. Because I know if I do, then I can expect half-hearted results."
I want to perform my best in sports, so I also need to prepare my best.

Re: motivation?
Im not working out currently an havent for the best part of a year (well probably more). My motivation to get back to it over the summer and beyond is I've fallen behind on my personal targets (I've probably got the same physique/strength I had 4 years ago), cath-up with my friends (these mans have put on mass while I've been away at uni), to get fitter, stronger, faster and be happy with my body and fitness.
I like the quote above...if I were to put my motivation in a quote it'd be "I don't play against a particular team, I play against the idea of losing." - Eric Cantona (footballer, poet, legend).

They ask us why we mutilate each other like we do
They wonder why we hold such little worth for human life
Facing all this drama
To ask us why we turn from bad to worse is to ignore from which we came
You see, you wouldn't ask why the rose that grew from the concrete had
damaged petals
On the contrary, we would all celebrate its tenacity
We would all love its will to reach the sun
Well, we are the roses
This is the concrete
And these are my damaged petals
Don't ask me why
Thank God, nigga
Ask me how
