Should I Get This Looked At.
When i train(running etc) i always get a pain down the outside of my left ankle.Especially if the ground i soft. The pain is bearable but it does slow me down and is annoying. After training or excercise my left ankle makes a clicking noise as i walk. The other ankle is fine.Do you think i should get this checked.Any ideas what the problem might be.?Im kind of reluctant to get an x-ray because i will be wating at the hospital for hours and it will set me back 50 euros.but i think there may be a problem with my ankle.

Make sure u do a warm up before you start runnin includin stretchin. If that doesn't help, I dunno - u might go and see a doctor.

Re: Should I Get This Looked At.
You have what's called a peroneal dislocation. At some time in the past, you must have sprained the ankle somewhat and torn a ligament. "Peroneal" means outer portion of the leg, so it's a peroneal ligament, and, hence, a peroneal dislocation. Over time this torn ligament can flop out of position and make a clicking sound. If it doesn't hurt, you can usually leave it alone. But since it hurts, you need to get it looked at because it can deteriorate or irritate a tendon, which is not a good thing.
That'll be 50 Euros, please.
Try to see a podiatrist, not just a doctor, and tell him your symptoms and that you suspect you have a peroneal dislocation (or torn ligament). He should be able to tell without an x-ray, although he'll probably take one anyway since pain indicates he will have to do something about it, so he'll need the X-ray anyway.

I agree! I think you should go check it out at the doc's. A second a opinion other then your own will only clear up all the doubts and questions you have about ur leg problem.

Re: Should I Get This Looked At.
They could put you in a specially made below-the-knee cast for about 6 weeks, and that might do the trick, but it has a high-recurrence rate of about 50%, so they will usually recommend surgery, esp. for an active person like yourself. And, yes, that would require crutches for a while. I know, will suck. But the surgery has a 95-100% success rate, and if you need it, it's gotta be done to prevent worse in the future. Unless you're willing to stop running and exercising forever.

Re: Should I Get This Looked At.
Get an x-ray done of your ankle, and take it to an Orthopedic Surgeon.
