Situps,Crunches or Pullups

which of those do you use to work your stomach muscles?? what do think is the most effective of the 3 ??

i like doing crunches i can feel the tightness in my stomach muscles. ive had people tell me if you wanna work your stomach better go an do pullups on a bar. ive really never done pullups but im willing to try something different.

your thoughts.

If you want a six pack the best thing is cardio and a good diet because no matter how many of the above you do if you have a layer of fat around the midsection you will not see your abs.

look what Rukas said is correct. you need to lose excess fat around your stomach to gain that six pack appearance. and eating properly is important.

But the best excercise to build up your stomach muscles?

Bicycle Crunches.Search them to see the correct technique for doing this excercise. i have built up my stomach a lot over the past 2 months by doing these but alas i need to lose that excess bit of fat around my stomach (not that much mind you). its hard lol.

not sure about pull ups. pull ups are more for building up your shoulders and upper back. They will work your abdominal muscles but to a lesser extent.

but, if you do cardio the body becomes more efficient at keeping some fat in some areas such as the abs. so it needs the help of a good diet, like you said, and of course exercise, in addition to it.

here's what i do...

i get on the pullup bar, put a dumbbell under me, and lift the dumbbell with my feet and pull my knee's up to my chest. do this several reps for several sets, you feel it working quick.

like most of you, i have the fat over my muscles as well. not a lot, but enough to where i cant see as much definition as i'd like. my recipe to get rid of that...

go to the ymca, get in the steam room for about five minutes, go take an ice cold shower for one minute. another steam room session, another shower. and once more. i did this for the first time yesterday and i lost three pounds just by that. you sweat a lot and the water weight just pours off of you. it really works.

you may get dehydrated by doing this. or pneumonia. lol.
