again with the whole creationism thing. how can you teach something that can never be proven? i mean whether or not you believe in the theory of evolution, there is room for argument, because it isn't a fully proven theory. but there is the possibility that it can be disproven since it is just that, a theory. how do you prove or disprove God? you can't make any kind of argument when discussing creationism, because those who believe it absolutely refute any other logical possibilities. if you want to learn about creationism, go to church. isn't that exactly what they teach you there anyway? what do we need to teach creationism in schools for, when most of the people who would want to learn it already go to church and hear about it every Sunday?

after re-reading the article Puff posted earlier, i find that yes, most of the stuff people have said that she did isn't true. but in a lot of cases, these things are what she wants to do, and will more than likely try to get done if and when she has the power of the VP position. and in the case of the librarian, she did indeed fire her as well as the police chief, for "not fully supporting the Mayor's office." whether or not they were rehired again is beside the point. the US already has had enough problems with the current administration unnecessarily firing people for refusing to go along party lines to do things they know they shouldn't (the US attorney firings standing as a huge example of that), does the US really need to deal with things like that for another 4 years? if you are doing the job to the best of your ability there is no reason to be fired simply because you don't support those in power.

Trying to redefine what a "day" means in the bible is just a way of retconning the whole thing so it sorta, kinda makes sense. Every time there's a new scientific discovery, people rush back to their bibles and find an ambiguous passage that they claim explains it.

not everyone gets exactly what they want. if the fuckin school system will put it in some bullshit class it will pacify the religion nuts enough. they're taking everything religious out of school to baby the atheists, so why not give the faithful something in return.

They're taking god out of schools because god has no place in schools. The education system shouldn't be used to brainwash and indoctrinate. If you put religious myths alongside scientific facts and theories, then you're implying that they hold the same value. How would you feel if schools were pushing Scientology onto kids, teaching their crackpot beliefs alongside real science, and making kids read copies of Hubbard's book?
