Mariano Rivera has no intentions of pitching in WBC
TAMPA, Fla. -- After working out Monday at the New York Yankees' minor-league complex, New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera reaffirmed that he doesn't plan to pitch for Panama in next month's World Baseball Classic.

"I won't be ready," Rivera said.
Included on Panama's 60-man provisional roster, the 36-year-old right-hander may not start his regular throwing program until next week. The Yankees have taken a slow approach when it comes to Rivera's preseason throwing the last few years.
Also Monday, reliever Octavio Dotel played catch with special pitching instructor Rich Monteleone. Dotel, who had ligament-replacement surgery on his right elbow last year, will likely start the season on the disabled list.

If I don't, they think they can call me anything they like. I don't know what they're going to do to me for this. I'll probably be fined or suspended, but I don't see why I should get any punishment at all. I was only kicking the decision. I'll go into the stands again if I have to."--Babe Ruth
