Stretching A Sample
adobe audition ruins your sound wave if you stretch it. everything's distorted. basically, what software offers a good tempo changer that doesnt distort your sound wave?

Re: Stretching A Sample
By stretching a sample do you mean slowing without changing the pitch?

Re: Stretching A Sample
my guess is you mean taking a part of a song and making it longer. this is a common thing called looping. and it's easy to do if you have a program like acid pro. click the song "Almighty" on my page or "Gunz Blazing" to hear how those samples came out. those were cut and pitched with Acid Pro.
now if you mean making it longer (slowing it down without changing the pitch), i don't believe that's even possible without the masters and cuts from the original sample. so pitching it is the only way to make it longer or shorter.

Re: Stretching A Sample
Its obvious he is not talking about looping because he mentioned stretching.
You need to adjust time without ruining pitch, you can do this by hand, or rather, by ear, but thats hard. There are plug ins that do it for you, or vice versa will change pitch but not time, which you can use to fuck with vocals for example to get a dirty south style.
It just depends on what audio program you are using, I cant comment on anything outside of Pro Tools anymore because well, if its not PT, Im out of the loop (pun intended)

Yep.
Example.
First is the original speed, second is stretched, third is stretched without altering pitch.
