strange talking manner
Well, it's not really love related, but for sure it's concerning relationships, so i hope my thread fits this section.
Have you ever noticed that some people when talking to other person are using the manner of appeal to that person like he's the third person. Actually it would sound like this: not like "how are you doing?", but "how is this boy doing?" at first it doesn't make any sense because the conversation is only between 2 persons, so why appeal to him like there's a third person there? Of course you might say, that this talking manner is pretty common, but it doesn't sound to me right, especially when it's used pretty often. E.g. how is Insomnia doing today, has Insomnia any plans for this weekend; did Insomnia have a dream about me tonight?
Well, i remember i've read in some psychology book, that there is a reason why people are doing this. Maybe they do that unconsciously, but there's a reason for it. It's something like that person is shy to admit that he's interested in the other person, so using the third person manner in some way creates different perspective... anyway, just wanted your thoughts, explanations regarding this. Have you ever thought about it?

^Usually used in a condescending manner or to be "cute", although it might be unintentional. Usually older people will talk like that to younger people.

I've never heard anyone talk like that except in a playful flirty sorta way. If someone was serious and talking to me like that, or kept on doing it I'd tell them to shut the fuck up.

^yes, hes abusive.
no really, i catch my mom doing that a lot. and its because its hard for her to admit that she likes my girlfriend. She never really shows emotion so its kind of her way of 'beating around the bush.'
However i also i think others just do it for conversation just because that person is affiliated with them so its a 'nice way' of starting conversation, not just because they have interest though.

Like I said. If they kept it up, i.e. not if they were doing it for 5 minutes. And if a girl consistently talked like that, it'd be a huge turn off. So yeah, i'd still tell her to shut up and talk like a normal person.

Sometimes it's cute while sometimes it's annoying.
A friend of mine was mad at me because I intentionally pissed her off the other day. Today I texted her with stuff like "Alex is mad on bad Simon" stuff and she couldn't resist it I think it comes from those cute old cartoons and the way people oftenly speak to their kids.
On the other hand while that bitch Carmen in GTA4 does it, it is seriously annoying.
