ive had my eye on this girl for a while. shes gorgeous and sweet and appears innocent. so i ask her out last night when i bump into her, she gives me her number and goes bright red.

now me and this girl i used to date are pretty close friends now - or i thought we were. over the past few months i mentioned to her a few times how ive had my eye on this girl, and she would soon begin to say negative shit about her.

she has never met her. she has never spoken to her. so i tell her im going on a date with this girl on msn. she ignores it. now tonight, we're talking again, and we start some random flirting. just playful talk. then she brings up the girl out of NOWHERE, asking for details.

and the way she talks about her is so patronising. VERY patronising. i ask her what her problem is and she goes on about how "she has a bad vibe about her", and how "shes not the angel i think she is". my friend i used to work with told me that his friend dumped this girl because she wouldnt put out. meaning shes not a slut. now my friend who says all this negaitve shit about her is trying to suggest that this girl is some sort of slut by saying "shes not the angel i think she is".

firstly whatever shes heard, is just rumours. and i wholeheartedly believe that it cant be that bad seeing as this girl got dumped for not putting out. what bothers me is before even saying "well done" or "good on you" like a friend, she immediately goes on the attack, saying nasty shit without even meeting or speaking to this girl. and shes not saying it as a "warning" thing... it's more like a viscious attack, so to me it doesnt look like shes looking out for me at all.

what is this girls problem?

Dude, do you really need to ask this question? It's as obvious as daylight. It's like the most common thing for an ex-boyfriend/girlfriend to do. I mean, I've had friends(girls who liked me but the feeling wasn't mutual) bag on other girls I do like saying shit like (I'm much hotter than her) and I'm thinking "If you were, I would have dated your ugly ass". So, shit like that. It doesn't make me wonder, I understand it.

Basically, the girl you used to date is only pretending to be your "close friend" because she believes that you will one day realize that she is the one you're supposed to be with (like in one of those romantic comedies that girls watch). What you see as innocent flirting she sees as one step closer to her goal, which is to be your girlfriend. She brings up the girl when you're innocently flirting with her because she wants to be assured that she is the one you actually like and that this other girl is just some phase you're going through.

So no, she is not really your friend and she can't be happy for you, because she isn't happy for you.

Has she ever talked shit about any other females that were around you? You said she has heard rumors about this girl, previously. If she hasn't acted like this previously with another female, maybe it is just this girl.
