I make a comment about my life, someone says in shock "Really? I didn't know that" This same someone i've not spoken to in YEARS so how would they know?
I can say "yup" and leave it at that

I hate conversation fillers. What's the point in stating the obvious?? Blah. I'll try your approach for next time, hopefully ppl won't be offended and think i'm handling them with kid gloves.
