Posts about Max B
Hell Rell caught up with Vlad to talk about locked up rappers Max B and Tru Life.
Saigon just released episode 2 of his new video blog internet TV series talking about his parole and laughing at the dumb shit he told the parole board. Did it work? Watch and find out. He then talks about the mental anguish of prison and about Max B and Tru Life. We missed posting the first episode last week so I’m posting it now and then the second one I just described after the jump…
As with Corey “C-Murder” Miller, another rapper has been hit in a bad way as they might see themselves behind an 8X11 prison cell for the remainder of their life. Rapper Max B, legally known as Charly Wingate, received a dishearteningly verdict today as he was sentenced to 75 years in prison.
The conviction and sentence comes from his role in a botched robbery that resulted in a felony murder within a hotel in New Jersey. Max B, along with Kevin Leerdam appeared in court in Hackensack, New Jersey and were convicted on charges of felony murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.
Leerdam was worse off after the trial came to a close as he was given a life sentence for his crime along with an additional 35 years that was tied to his role in the murder.
Oddly enough, Max B.’s girlfriend, Gina Conway, had a hand in delivering the guilty verdict as she testified against the two during their trial that took place back in June. Conway was actually an active participant in the crime as she helped plan the robbery. She is currently looking at an 18-year sentence.
The actual incident happened in September 2006 at a Holiday Inn when they made an attempt to rob Allan Plowden and David Taylor. The result was the murder of Taylor as he was shot and killed.
Prior to receiving his sentence, the Harlem rapper had signed a deal with Amalgam Digital and he was in the process of releasing his debut album Vigilante Season as part of a three-album deal with the digital label.

Max B and his brother have been found guilty on 9 out of 11 charges, including felony murder, kidnapping, robbery and conspiracy.
The rapper has been free after Jim Jones previously paid his bail, before Max had his falling out with Dipset.
He was detained immediately after the trial and will be sentenced July 30, he’s facing 20 years. An appeal is already in the works.
The charges stem from a 2006 robbery that left a man dead in the Holiday Inn in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
Here is an official statement from his lawyer:
“Max B would like to first thank all his family, friends and fans that have supported him throughout this trial. Please don’t give up on him at this point. Although the jury has spoken and Max has been convicted of felony murder, kidnapping, robbery and conspiracy a swift and successful appeal shall follow. It is inconceivable that a jury would convict Max under the facts presented by the State. Even Gina Conway the State’s own witness testified that Max knew nothing of a robbery. Ms. Conway, a jilted lover and proven liar, said so at the trial itself. Max said after the verdict was read that he is confident that justice will eventually be served and he will be free. Max intends to continue putting out music for his fans while the appeal process grinds along. Although shocked by the verdict, Max remained grateful.”
