HipHopStan.com sat down with former Death Row Records CEO and mogul Marion “Suge” Knight for a quick interview, and the perhaps deluded man claims he is still “running the west,” despite his total absence from the music industry for close to a decade now.

Suge says he is enjoying his life right now, planning to do some films, and working on putting out new music on his new record label; Blackball Records.

In the interview he also praised some West Coast artists like Nipsey Hussle, Glasses Malone and Jay Rock, saying he thinks they will do well, and also commention on artists such as Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy, who he thinks have been putting out good music lately.

As for his Blackball Records, he says the label will “take it back to basics” and return to a West Coast sound. As for his reality TV show, Unfinished Business, Suge is still looking for a network to pick it up.

Ever wonder why Busta Rhymes left Aftermath? He’s kept quiet about it up until now, up until he had an album in stores to promote that is.

Kanye West has lashed out on his personal blog after an unfinished copy of the video for “Paranoid” hit the internet.

“It hurts me to see the old and very wrong version of the paranoid video get leaked all over the net while I was on an 11-hour flight and couldn’t do anything about it,” Ye wrote. Like you know, had he not been on the plane he could have done something, got his leet h4×0r skills on and stopped the files from spreading.

“It’s just frustrating when this stuff happens because I really care about the product and since videos never get played any way you might as well tweak them and make them as special as possible. The version that got leaked from the camera phone last week is at least a little closer to the final product. Thank-you everybody for your support but that video was not up to my standards.”

The song and video that leaked features Rhianna. I wish a Rhianna sextape, starring me and her, would hurry up and leak. We’re still in preproduction though.

All I’m going to say about this one is that it’s good to see Yukmouth and Dru Down doing something again.

The West is not coming back with shit like this.

Travis Barker is a beast on the drums, even if you hate Blink 182 (as I do) you can not deny it. What he did with The Game’s “Dope Boys” track was insane, and he’s at it again this time redoing Eminem’s “3AM” and I personally think it’s an insane job.

It’s just a shame Em’s vocals fucking suck. There. I said it. Na na na na na!

Here’s a video for Tyga’s latest from his upcoming album The Introduction. This one will also be on his DJ Green Lantern mixtape called The Potential, coming soon, and we’ll have that for you when it drops too.

diddy

It seems that the latest trend on Twitter is to unfollow Diddy. So much so it has hit the Top 10 Twitter trends, with haters uniting against the Bad Boy mogul.

Diddy is apparently shocked and doesn’t know why people would unfollow him…. Gee… Could it be the annoying mass “GET LOCKED IN!” posts he tried to force through into some sort of mainstream vocab and trend by posting them every 10 minutes? Just a thought.

So Diddy has fired back in true Diddy fashion by locking his tweets so only his followers can read his updates and starting a new online movement called “Give a Hater a Hug.” It even made Twitter’s Top 10 Trends on May 29th.

Now instead of bombarding the online world with “LOCKED IN!” tweets, he’s busy posting anti-hater inspirational things like these:

“Life is short! Use your time wisely! While you’re trying to tear me down I’m already onto my next dream!”

Have you been on your grind today? Or have you let the negativity consume you! Focus people! God 1st! Get money! Never stop! Let’s go!!!”

Ever since Jay-Z’s split from Def Jam became official, we were all wondering what was next for Jigga.

Now a source has told Daily News that Hip-Hop’s ex-President might be joining the Warner Music Group and working alongside Hip-Hop moguls Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles again.

“Jay knows Lyor and Kevin from back when they all worked together at Def Jam, and he obviously wants to work something out with his friends,” the source told the Daily News. “He wants to get the dream team back together. There have been a few whiffs of a reunion in the past, but only now – and very privately – is something finally starting to happen.”

There has also been talk of Jay-Z starting his own label at Warner Music Group.

“This is big in Hip-Hop,” explained the source. “These are three of the most powerful men in music, who might be working together, and there’s no question the success they’ll have as a team will be huge.”

slaughterhouse

A couple of days ago we posted some news about the upcoming Slaughterhouse debut album, more to the point we finally had a July 7th release date and word that it would be released on E1 Music (formally Koch Records).

Now one forth of the group Joell Ortiz (if you haven’t caught on yet, the group features Ortiz, Joe Budden, Royce Da 5′9″ and Crooked I) is giving fans a little more info.

“We did an entire album in six days!” said Joell Ortiz in a statement. “When you genuinely love what you’re doing everything is effortless. It was like a long party.  I can’t wait for the fans to experience this album.”

Ortiz also confirmed that production was being handled by StreetRunner, The AlchemistDJ Khalil and Mr. Porter (Kon Artis of D12 fame) will produce tracks for the album.

Raekwon is starting to promote Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, and what better way to get people’s attention than to talk about other rappers!

Here’s a video of him talking about Lil Wayne, Jim Jones, Kanye West, T.I., Young Jeezy, and Rick Ross and his CO situation. OB4CL2 is out August 11th.

I can’t believe they didn’t think of the cross Doctor promotion earlier. Dr. Pepper has teamed up with Dr. Dre on a TV ad for the soft drink, and the last few seconds feature what those involved are saying is the first officially confirmed beat on Dre’s mythical Detox album.

The instrumental in question actually leaked a month ago as a T.I. guide track, meanin Tip had recorded over it with the intention of Dre using his ghostwritten lyrics and flow on the final version.

Fabolous has more in common with Joe Budden than just Tahiry (ok, that’s a low blow I know), he has begun Vlogging also.

Only time will tell if he is as active as Joey, but one would think not coz Joe is on a whole nother level with the handy cam.

Check this out, it was filmed on the set of Loso and The Dream’s XXL cover shoot.

If you’re seeing this, it is because we’ve moved to a new content management system for StreetHop.

It is a move both myself and Rukas have discussed for a while, and we feel it is one that will benefit the site in the long run.

Please stick with us as we move everything over and dont panic if something isn’t working quite right, we will fix it ASAP.

You may also notice that the old content is currently not on the site, fear not, these will all be transferred over in the very near future; we just wanted to get everything working 100% before undergoing such a huge task.
